Great router for Broadband Fiber. My neighborhood just got converted to Broadband (i3) and I now have 2Gb speed and needed a new router. This model is perfect for the job !

I had a device fail and thought I had a substitute in a closet, but it was worthless. Asked my wife to pick something I had seen online. Got it home, hooked it up and it began switching bands for no reason and numerous internet drops. She took it back. I asked Best Buy agent what's an upgrade and wife brought home the RT - AX86U Pro. I must admit, I was a bit intimidated due to my limited experience working with a device this quality. It has strong angular appearance common it seems in the ASUS line of devices. Wiring is absolutely easy. The termination strip is clearly labeled and color delineated. Wiring is secure and out of sight in the back of device.and thank goodness a simple, toggle on-off power switch. There is even a provided a cable for connection to the cable modem. The operating software help lessen my intrepidation. Each function item has a short description of that function performs. Downloading a full manual opened my noobie eyes to the powerful combination of hardware and software. I have a home filled with the usual load of things begging to be properly addressed. You know yourself: camera doorbell, smart thermostat, numerous controllers running countless LED analog and digital lighting strips, etc, etc. In short time, I'm in over my head. ASUS provided a bright red card with the support line for pro and noob questions. Each phone call answered by knowledgeable person able to guide me through the setup and addressing all my things working on both 2.4 and 5G bands. The AX is powerfully spreading wireless network about a two level house. An excellent purchase and good support.

ASUS support failed to solve incompatibility between a wire mesh extender and wireless printing. Specifically, ASUS support could not program a fixed IP address to stabilize wireless printing. See CASE NO= N2406024439-0001. This was a great disappointment, and, the ASUS support was unable to recommend an alternative solution. I had to solve the problem by myself at additional expense with input from the Geek Squad.

This router was so much better than my previous router, that I bought a second one to extend access into my home office in a shed in my backyard. The AI mesh was simple to set up, and everything just works and is fast. I know I could have used a different model, but I figured two instances of the same model would be less likely to have future firmware introduce incompatibilities. And I didn't have to run a cable to backhaul from one router to the other. 5 out of 5, would buy again.

I have had this router for 2 months. So far I am very pleased with performance, though I may need to get a range extender for my small but multi-level home. There are some areas through floors and plaster walls that have slower response times, but still retain connectivity. The ASUS App is so much better than the Netgear Nighthawk app (my previous router) with a better interface and loads more content and controls.

I have two of these great AX86Us in a mesh with a ROG GT-AX6000 at the head end linked on a 2.5Gb switch. Performance is excellent. I have 1.3Gbps service to the house and get 1.3G to my units wired to the 2.5G switch connected to the ROG GT-AX6000. Around my 4,000 sqft 3 level house, my AX based Phones, tablets and laptops regularly show 800Mbps on Speedtest. This is almost double what I was seeing with other routers.

I bought it recently and it is not only fast but the coverage is great. And for a bigger house, it is expandable. It was very easy to connect to the internet by selecting the Automatic option.

I bought this a week ago to replace a 1 year old router (different brand) that was starting to give become unreliable. Although the specs were similar the Wifi coverage of my home (ranch) improved dramatically. Previous dead spots in the basement went from 6 to 77 Mbs on % GHz band with 300 MBs service at the router. 2.4 GHz signal speed also improved in weak spots. I think it would work well in a 2 story house. Great features, easy setup and free security software. For some reason I am only getting 2.4 GHz speeds (125 Mbs) with a wired ethernet connection. WiFi is great though.

I recently upgraded my router from the ASUS RT-AX56U to the AX86U. It was a great improvement for my ever growing network (currently 15 devices). The 86 has twice the memory and an additional CPU. You get great coverage and superior security. The router comes with a lifetime of security updates from MicroTrend. There are multitudes of settings for networks far more complex than a home may need, but one day you may need them.

I bought this to replace an older ASUS router (RT-AC87U). Setup was easy, I was up and running in 10 minutes. Wireless throughput speed was much improved. :D

This is my 3rd AI router. All have worked extremely well. The ax86u still had great wifi distance coverage with only 3 external antennas. Greatly exceeded my distance expectations. Software interface is also great. And able to mesh all routers seamlessly with ease is wonderful. Personaly I think Asus makes the best routers available.

I purchased this to replace a Wifi 5 router. Configuring the router through the web interface was a breeze and love that I can also configure and manage the router though the app. Still using a Wifi 5 adapter and was previously getting an average of 400 Mbps down with the previous AC router. Now I'm getting average of 550 Mbps. I haven't had any issues so far, will see what happens in the long term.

We have a large property with multiple buildings that are hardwired between. We used the AIMesh config and broadcast 3 SSID's in both 2.5 and 5 Ghz, and WOW, we are super happy. Our main SSID is not shared, our in law has their own SSID and also one for guests. In law and guest cannot access intranet, so main network is secure! All three routers broadcast same and can move about the property without "switching" SSID's and staying connected. Have 2 RTAX86U's and an RT-AC86U.

Let me start by saying I'm not a gamer, but I do heavily use multiple devices to include multiple video streaming units. This was a fantastic upgrade to my aging Asus RT-AC1900. With the addition of more RAM, processing power, and WiFi6, this thing screams! It has kept up with the load I've placed on it both wired and wireless throughout the day. Having a good grasp on the Asus GUI, advanced settings, etc...it was a breeze to set up. I did want to start from scratch and not import any legacy settings from my previous Asus, and that was still easy to do. I would definitely recommend this model to anyone.

My Wi-Fi connection has improved immensely not only with speed but also distance. The new Wi-Fi 6 is blazing fast for streaming movies, games, so is the Wan/Lan ethernet connections also has 2.4ghz and 5G. Also it's capable IPV6 and has easy to use software.

Got this router from adarama a couple of weeks ago. They had a big restock which is why there's sales going back to the original retail price. The speed is blazing fast and it has a 2.5g WAN port for future proofing. My main issue is that once in a few days, it disconnects my wifi on my phone, it won't auto-connect back, I have to do it manually.

I bought this last Sepember as my then current wireless router produced a very weak signal on my front deck, even with an extender. After I bought this, I noticed an immediately improved signal, which has gotten stronger with time. Now I have whole house and deck coverage without the use of any extenders.

I replaced another router that supposedly was speedy. This asus router blows it away. Great coverage for a 3200 sq ft hm with 2 story floor plan. No drops. Great speed.

If your problem can't be solved by looking it up in one of their many documents, then you will be sent back to the original retailer for support or share the same fate as Sisyphus if you try to communicate with a support agent. It has been great so far, it replaced an older Netgear Nighthawk that frankly was starting to drop a ton of connections as we got more devices in our household. I would definitely recommend it.
