Great tablet

Wife uses to replace an old IPad. She uses it mostly for internet, blogs, email and etc.

Just as expected

I bought this during the After-Thanksgiving sales for me as a Christmas present from my mom (she doesn't do interent anything). It was packaged as described, and once delivered, I did a thorough inspection, set-up, and tested the tablet. Works like a charm. Very reactive to commands and easy to navigate. The only thing I was disappointed in was that it was delivered by the Post Office, not by UPS. The mailman just crammed it into my mailbox and left it there for anyone to steal, and it was out in the below zero windchill for nearly 48 hours. The box was a little crushed, but the internal packaging protected the tablet from any harm. I was deciding between this tablet and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. I like that the bloatware is minimal compared to what Samsung pre-loads on their devices. And I prefer this to my boyfriend's Kindle Fire in weight, demensions, and navigation. I'm still a little clumsy with some of the apps, in particular the media player for downloaded music, but it's me, not the tablet. I agree with a Consumer Reports review that the power button is placed in an inconvenient location (on the underside of the knife edge in the upper right corner). I picked a case that allows for access without removing from the case, but I have to flip the tablet on it's side to be able to visually see it in order to make sure I've pressed it. That is my only con with the actual tablet. And because I'm not very technology savvy, I probably wont' be using it as a camera. I'm sure it works great for games, which I don't spend a lot of time playing, and in my opinion, nothing beats a desk top for out-of-office productivity. Not saying I won't check work email from my tablet, but if I need to create a memo or a document, my desk top or lap top will be more productive for that endeavor. I would recommend this brand/tablet and this company to others. I anticipate being a repeat customer, especially when a reasonably priced tablet/phone combo device hits the mainstream market. I also purchased the 2 year warranty (that includes accidental drops or spills) just incase my grandsons get a hold of this. I haven't received the warranty certificate or policy, either by paper or electronically...and that is what brought me to the site today. So I thought I'd write my review before sending an email to customer service. My final thought is that customer service is very responsive. I emailed them shortly after I placed my order regarding the notification my order was backordered. I got a response within 36 hours. Very impressive!

Why buy an iPad mini?

Why buy an iPad mini when you can have an Asus MeMO Pad HD 7? Just bought an iPad Air & the HD 7 - Hands down the Asus HD 7 from Adorama has limitless posibilities due to the Android OS, while the iPad traps one within the limits of the Apple OS and costly apps. The HD 7 delivers spectular HD video display, even from the external micro SD. The latest version of Skype provides great video from the front camera. The HD 7 was purchased expressly for travel, where HD Movie playback, social media and email apps were primary requirements. An additional bonus is that no special cord or USB charger is required.

Also own Kindle Fire (non-HD)

I have used this tablet about 2 weeks now. This tablet has more features and power than my Kindle Fire does. But I find the screen to be less sensitive to touch and the sound to be less loud than my Kindle Fire. This tablet has a external volume control which is nice. But they should have also included a screen touch volume slider button on the drop down control center screen which control things such as settings, wifi and bluetooth. While this tablet has a better processor, the loading of album art and app thumbnails seems to lag a bit. This tablet will run the Xbox Music app but will not play tracks properly. A track will play for 5 seconds and then stop. Feedback from Asus and Xbox Music support indicate that this is a known problem. Hopefully they will come up with a software fix soon as I would think many other would be having the same problem. This tablet does have the micro SDHC slot and 2 cameras which should come in handy. This tablet has its strengths just as the Kindle Fire does. I would say the Kindle Fire is more intuitive as they have integrated shopping, music, video etc all together and I have to say it all seems to work very well. But I think the Asus Memo Pad HD 7 which has many nice features overall is a good tablet and I would recommend it to others who might be in the market for a new tablet at a fair price.

An easy carry

Smaller on the go tablet. Stick it in my pocket and go. Lot easier to transport than our 11" tablet.

Great introductory unit! Bang for yer $

This unit does everything I've asked of it. Build quality could be slightly better, but the display is fantastic and the processor can take some abuse. Definitely recommended... Adorama had the product on backorder at first, but it was quickly restocked and my unit arrived 12 days from order date. Not bad, considering the holiday season and the Cyber Monday deals they had. I would order from them again.

Good Value

Bought as a gift. This tablet is a good compromise of price and performance, and the basics seem to be well done. I've had some trouble with cases for this, but I've ordered the Poetic StrapBack case/stand since I like the one I have for my Samsung tablet. 7 inch is a good size, even fits in really big pockets. I did have one screen during setup where the text was cut off. Not sure what caused that but once I got through it I haven't seen it again.

Recommend this product

Bought this product from Adorama and it is a great buy. Both the product and the seller are very good. Got the product in 2 days after order. This tablet is great addition to the asus products specially at this price level. The HD display is very nice and very much touch sensitive. I'm very happy that I replaced the earlier one within one week and bought this new tablet. I would recommend this product to everyone.
