An innovative solution for networked audio systems, the ne4400 Network Enabled Protea DSP Audio System Processor offers a seamless 4-input x 4-output interface with Dante compatibility. This advanced audio processor simplifies connectivity and control, leveraging standard 10/100 Ethernet protocol and Protea ne Software, eliminating the need for special outboard control units.
The ne4400 is part of a series of processors, including the ne4800 (4x8) and ne8800 (8x8), all offering analog line input/output formats. These units come equipped with four option bays, supporting network audio, AES3, and mic input options.
The heart of the ne4400 lies in its extensive DSP signal processing library, powered by multiple SHARC 32-Bit processors with sample rates of either 48kHz or 96kHz. The processing blocks include a versatile matrix mixer (4x4, 4x8, or 8x8), a comprehensive range of graphic, parametric, and all-pass equalization, and crossover filters, featuring 8th-order Butterworth, Bessel, Linkwitz-Riley, and notched Linkwitz-Riley.
The Protea Software Suite enhances the functionality of the ne4400 with an advanced automatic feedback suppressor, FIR filter capability, gain sharing automatic microphone mixing, ambient noise sensing and level adjustment, autolevelers, compressors, matrix duckers, limiters, frequency-keyed noise gates, and signal delay up to 1,365ms on every channel. It also offers a choice of sinewave, pink, or white noise generators.
The ne4400 is designed for ease of use, with hot-plug software control that lets you plug any function into any channel block, even during live audio, without the need for recompiling. The automatic DHCP network IP configuration further simplifies network setup, while multi-level software security with password access ensures a tamper-proof audio system.
The ne4400 is built to meet the highest architectural and engineering specifications. It features a fixed-path architecture with hot-plugable audio functions anywhere in the signal path, reducing setup time. All control and monitoring programming is accomplished using a PC platform and standard Ethernet network connection or RS-232 protocol.
The rear panel of the ne4400 includes eight logic input or output connections, plus eight remote potentiometer level controls. Word clock input and output BNC connections are provided for digital audio frame locking to a house sync. The DSP processor is designed to mount in a standard 19" rack using 2 spaces (3.5" high).
