REVIEWED ON 12/13/13 (Day 4) Preface: THis machine is not only stunningly sleek and sexy but it provides a lightweight experience that I fell in love with the moment I slid it out of the box. Comes fully loaded with great accessories that pretty much gives me what I need on the fly and has awesome performance capabilities. Pro: * Super lightweight * Very fast performance of hardware and hard-drives * Excellent visual screen displays, stunning * Comes with a nice protective soft-case (with stylus pen holder) * Very slick design, allows for optimized portability without sacrifice of function * Can be overclocked if desired * Very functional tablet hybrid with a powerful laptop core * Exactly 100% what I was looking for in a portable work/school (minor gaming) machine. Cons: * Windows 8 (but I'm getting used to it) * Battery life is terrible; lasts 2-4 hours depending on what I'm doing. * On-board RAM, Cannot be upgraded * Hard-drives cannot be upgraded * Questionable whether or not touchscreen will work if downgraded to Windows 7 ** Defect in my touchscreen, having to return to manufacturer (RMA). **Note Yesterday morning (12/12/13) the touchscreen worked flawlessly. Four hours later the touchscreen started experiencing black screens and flickering when attempting to use the outer touchscreen window. This is sort of a huge bummer because I had just gotten everything updated with drivers, software, etc, and am now forced to reset to factory default and send it to California to get a new outer touchscreen replaced. That said, everything else about the device is awesome, and admittedly, there were tons of reviews and reports around the internet reporting the same issue as me, and being forced to return the laptop to be fixed on one or more occasions. I guess I just thought that since I bought my device in December, that it would be a newer model with newer guts. Evidently not. Asus probably shipped the units all way too early originally and now have a backstock of machines with reasonable defective parts. Preliminary conclusion: Overall, I'm really glad I bought this machine, because it is EXACTLY what I need and wanted. Even knowing that I have to return my machine back for a new one isn't making me regret buying it. I just wish the machine was perfect straight out of the box, which it wasn't for me. Be prepared to return it to the manufacturer after buying for new parts.
