Shopper : I just bought this ultrabook, can anyone tell me how can i upgrade ram to 8gb?thnxANGIE K : Video link: is at hardocp (dot) com. Lookup, Asus Zenbook UX32vd review teardown upgrade.ANGIE K : I would upgrade to 10gb since it's the max. You'll need an 8gb dimm because 2gb is soldered to the mobo. Here is a video that shows the insides. It's a pretty simple upgrade.PRASHANTH R : Hi, This unit has 2GiB of memory soldered onto the motherboard. It also comes with a 2GB / 4GB memory stick in its only other memory slot. I removed the cover underneath the laptop by removing the 12 torx screws. (I got my torx screw driver kit at a Home Depot for about $5 and used a bit that fit the screws best. Once all the screws are off, I carefully removed the base plate (note that the side of the cover facing the hinge has some double-sided tape). This laptop supports both DDR3 and DDR3L memory types. I bought a Kingston KHX1600C9S3L/8G 8GB memory module that is 1.35V compatible. I've previously used a Corsair Vengeance (CMSX8GX3M2A1600C10) 8GB module, which worked just fine. However the Corsair is a 1.5V part and it has a CAS latency of 10. I upgraded to the Kingston part as a result. Once the cover is off, the stock module should be visible. The stock module on this laptop has some metallic cover on it. I felt it was some kind of safety feature, that prevented the module from coming in contact with the metallic bottom cover and short itself out. Once the replacement is done, put the cover back on - with the side facing the hinge first. Note that the screws along the sides and the front of the laptop are at an angle and should be driven in, at an angle perpendicular to the curvature. Not doing this, may damage the threading in the screw holes. Also make sure that the base cover is properly inserted along all the edges and is flush with the chassis' edge. Not doing so, could cause your clickpad to feel weird. Also, do not tighten the screws too much. Note that, since the onboard memory and the new module are of different sizes (2GB and 8GB), the motherboard will operate in single channel mode. However, the onboard memory is rated at 1600MHZ. As a result, the new module also works at 1600MHz. I hope this helps.

Excellent laptop

Small, lightweight, powerful. I don't care for Windows 8, so I use a third-party Start app that works very well. The one thing I don't like is the battery life, not long enough.

Ultrapowerful, ultraportable ultrabook

A great, punchy little laptop. Expensive, but definitely worth the price, especially if you pop in a 256GB SSD and an extra 8GB of RAM when you get it. Gets good battery life (6-8 hours, depending on usage) while still being powerful enough to do mobile gaming and some pretty heavy photo editing. Screen is bright and sharp.
