I setup my home to be as automated as possible with WIFI Switches, Outlets, Lights, Home security with Windows/Doors/Motion Sensors and 8 external and 3 internal cameras, Sprinkler system, water heater and a number of extra devices. In total I have over 120 + WIFI devices and needed a system that can support them all. I have used ASUS routers for many years and have been happy with their performances. I have an older ASUS GT-AX11000 Raptor as my main router feeding 5 older ASUS routers and configured in an AIMESH network. This worked great, however as my WIFI devices started to grow, my system was slowing down. I then decided to upgrade my main router with an RT-AXE7800 Tri Band Router, and I had a major increase in speed and it too accepted my OLDER routers into an AIMESH. This was short lived since I had FIRMWARE update which somehow impacted my new router in the fact that is would loose internet connectivity and periodically drop the other routers off the AIMESH. I reverted back to my older configuration until I was able to get this resolved. Just incase I started to review other alternatives and found the ASUS ZenWIFI Pro ET12 which came in a 2 pack. It had very similar features as the RT-AXE7800, however its processors where more up to date and and its cover was much larger. So I decided to get it and I was amazed how quickly I was able to set it up. Granted at first when trying to get the second unit connected, it would not find it, to place it into the AIMESH. I stopped what I was doing and looked to see if it may require a FIRMWARE update, sure enough it did and the second unit that came with it was automatically added into the AIMESH. I also was able to add my older RAPTOR routers (GT-AX11000 and GT-AC5300) and the RT-AX88U into the AIMESH and have them placed in different locations around my home with great signal strength. What amazed me was that I have two older RT-AC88U routers and tried to add those into the AIMESH. However, they could not be added into the AIMESH (I am assuming its due to their dual band 2.4 limitations) but I was able to add them as repeaters which now I placed 1 in my garage and the other in the back yard for further coverage. I have this system now running for over two weeks and I have had ZERO issues and the performance while streaming shows and gaming had major performance increases. Even with 120+ device, this new system has handled them like a champ.

I purchased the ET12 2-pk a couple of months ago and installed it in my two story home using wired backhaul. Performance has been outstanding to date with no outages or issues noted. The ET12 units are a little on the large side, but otherwise look very sleek and modern. One of the primary reasons I chose this unit over others was the 2.5 G WAN and LAN ports, which optimizes simultaneous performance to multiple high bandwidth devices.

So far so good. Easy setup, covers most of the house, however I'll probably get one more to cover a dead spot.

I bought this router because of the free Trendmicro security and I'm not disappointed with it. The wireless coverage is exactly what I needed. So far is a pretty good router.

A lot of choices these days in wifi routers. After review, we chose the zen 12 2-pack. We replaced a tp-link deco 4 unit mesh system that after only 2 years?so a 2 unit was a risk in a large sprawling 2-story house. But..so far it is carrying the load?.plenty of power, plenty of coverage. Those are the 'pro's' I care about. The 'con's' are there are just too many options to select from as you go through screens, many I have no idea what they are. It would be nice if this was fumed down a little. The guest network setup is nothing like we had before and is just too complicated. You set it up by choosing one of three bands, set time limits?. and so on. We used to just hit an on/off switch after setting up a name and password. This really needs to be redone.

I bought a set from Bestbuy and so far so good! They were pretty easy to setup and the app is pretty straight forward. I am looking to buy another set, but Bestbuy is sold out and I am waiting for them to come back in.

So far so good. The interface is great and it gives you alot of options to setup the routers. It's not as proprietary as the ORBI Mesh Routers. My wireless cameras are connected to the routers but my controller for the cameras can't seem to find the ASUS Routers whereas the controller did find my ORBI Mesh Routers. I don't know why this is the case..

As a previous network engineer, my perspective has always been more corporate which means my home network is secured and I prefer a good mesh with features and interface that provide the ability to control everything from the firewall to DHCP and QoS. While the interface is pretty good, every time I made a change to do something like add a static IP or add one of the mesh, the primary router locked up. Yesterday, my ISP connection seemed up however, I was unable to access the interface and had to reboot it, again. While it's still early, the lock-up on the interface is just not reliable for my use. Coverage is decent (I have three) and a 2100 sq ft house. I work all over my house which is why I need the coverage. Setting up the firewall is easy with options that allow you to use keywords or URLs which is pretty convenient. The VPN options are nice as well. However, if I want to add or change DHCP, including the range or add a static address, the primary should not lock up and adding a mesh client should not cause it to lock up. One of the mesh was also locked up and had to be rebooted. I'll be looking through the forums and ASUS for any similar issues and possibly firmware updates. If there are no firmware updates or similar issues, I can only assume my units have some issue which will lead me to go back to a more corporate use such as Ubiquity (which I had previously and worked great but the interface was lacking). Going to give it a few more weeks, possibly a month.

I've had this for over a month. Wireless speeds are excellent. The only issue I've had is trying to update the DNS servers. When updating DNS on the admin site, it loses the wireless connection and I'm also no longer able to update my phone's wifi DNS info like I could with all of my previous routers. It's not a deal breaker but it is why I lowered the rating to a 4.
