Ok. This mic doesn't get much love, mostly, on YouTube anyway. It does from some though. For the most part it's overlooked and underrated. I take it you love it or it just doesn't work. It works for me. I do love it. Here is the thing, I like the fact that the mic has a built in (no switch) frequency cut off at 80Hz. It just works. Sure the highs can be a bit digital sounding. And I mean, a bit. Not going to hear it when exporting to an Mp3 for a podcast. I am running this in via a dbx286s and am able to tame the highs on the way in. The dbx then goes into a Volt UA 276 with the vintage engaged and the 76 compressor on the Vocal setting. I think it also helps add coloration to the highs on the way in a smooth way. The low on this mic, for my voice, are the closest to natural I have ever heard. On my voice. I love it. I am a woman and have a low voice. It adds a bit of energy in the low end that is tight. Stay on the mic if you get it because it drops off quick on the sides or moving back because of the Hypercardioid pattern. Keep the mic technique up close. Love it. A big surprise. So, you need to try the mic first. Lesson learned. Glad I didn't listen to some of the YouTubers. For my chain, it is wonderful. Sooo happy. Oh, I have all the biggies for mics (SM7B, Broadcaster, Dynacaster....etc) and I just love this thing. Oh, and it looks real sleek too. I had dismissed my AT2035 and I may have to revisit that mic!! Great work Audio Technica.
