This mic sounds great for the price. With full 48v phantom power this mic has significant range and picks up spoken vocal tones well. Ive been able to run it off of as little as 5v via a motherboard 3.5mm jack and had to pump the gain but it still had decent noise floor with only slight hiss. Its compact and fits my small run and gun cam perfectly and doesn't end up in frame unlike larger better mics. It does not do well on instruments and high end sounds or singing but this is almost never my use case.

I used this to record a self-taped acting audition and it did a phenomenal job recording my dialogue without any background noise. Previously with regular mics I would have to edit out background noise, but with this XLR mic and a Zoom H4N, I didn't have to do that at all. The shock mount comes highly recommended as it help stabilize my mic on a stand that I used.

I found that this shotgun mic works better in outside environments. Inside it sounds a little "echoish", but the audio still sounds great and understandable. It has excellent off axis rejection and does not pick too much noise. If you will be recording in windy environments the included windscreen works surprisingly well.
