The product I received was a single piece and all black. No problem. I have used it once with the large 12v lead acid battery that I use to run my telescope, imaging camera, guide camera and laptop. The cable length is longer than I expected - 16ft and much longer than I need, since I place the battery directly beneath the telescope tripod, but that's OK.
