I bought the Ioptron star tracker from Adorama. It was packed perfect & no part was missing.I mounted it on a regular tripod on my balcony & started to photograph the poluted sky from my balcony that does't show polaris. I admit that I do have some experience from the past finding north & so I started the experiment. At the begining I had some stars trails but slowly slowly I found the right position to the north & thats what I got with my Canon 200 mm lens.

Needs That Special Something.... I just received my package and what a downer! I have to admit I was a little taken back that there was no polar scope included. When I did a search in Google this product came up in the search. I clicked it opened this link : http://www.adorama.com/ATIOSTCMBK.html and I purchased the product. I was not aware until just this moment that I was not getting everything I needed. I just went back online and must say I'm surprised this option is available. Even now when I look at the accessories there is no mention that the Polar Scope if not included. Please add this to make others aware. I'll be in contact tomorrow to find out what we can do to rectify this situation

The iOptron SkyTracker Camera Mount (6.6 lbs Load Capacity) is a motorized astrophotography tool used to capture crisp long-exposure photographs of the night sky. The built-in compass and polar sighting hole, or the optional AccuAligning polar scope, will help an operator align the camera mount parallel to the Earth's axis. Correct alignment with Earth's axis of rotation is essential for capturing sharp, trail-free images of celestial bodies.
For quicker and easier alignment, the operator can use iOptron's Polar Scope iPhone/iPad app to pinpoint their polar reference star (Polaris north of the equator, Sigma Octantis south of the equator). After aligning the camera mount with correct azimuth and latitude positions, the SkyTracker is ready to follow the same path of stars. Within minutes, the observer will be ready to capture astrophotographs of deep sky objects.
