I currently have the Tv logic 058w which is still the workhorse for me but I am interested in something newer. I will try this and the Small HD 503 ultra bright and compare. This is 1/4 the price of the small HD.... so that is something to considerAndrew K : Because it’s from Atomos.

Easy to Use

Great video quality, simple touch screen controls. Only wish it came with a battery instead of needing to order them separately. I have a 12' camera jib so having this monitor so I can see what I'm shooting on my Canon EOS RP is great.

Great Gadget

Solid construct. The button sensitivity is appropriate. The screen is bright and clear. Overall the function does exactly what I need. I would definitely purchase again.

For a more practical use this needs several other accesories like a arm to connect to camera, batteries and battery charger.

It's light weight and good quality image. If what you need is an extra monitor for a small setup where there is power nearby then this will work great.

Not Great

I was very unimpressed with this monitor. Yes, it has SDI, but the actual LCD panel that they use is not detailed or color accurate. So much loss of detail on the shadows and blacks. I almost feel as if it is attempting to make you feel “HDR” at the cost of just drowning out detail in your highlights and blacks. It works, it’s lightweight, but I would not trust it as an operator monitor. Sticking with my TV LOGIC 058w

Shinobi SDI 5" HDR Pro Monitor

Designed for every viewing situation, the competitively priced Atomos Shinobi makes monitoring easy and convenient. It connects to your camera and captures a clear, high-resolution mirror view with its 5-inch 10-bit HD or SDR screen. With a dedicated monitor, it’s much easier for the photographer, director, and creative assistants to see what the camera sees at all times. The new Analysis feature also provides easily switchable waveform, histogram, and vectorscope views so you can always be in complete control of your image. The Shinobi screen displays up to 10+ stops of dynamic range in real-time and even simplifies shooting Log and HDR footage to benefit your post-production workflow. It weighs only 196 grams (7 ounces), allowing you to conveniently bring it anywhere, and even features ¼”-20 screw mounts at the top and bottom for easy caging and rigging. You can even see images on the screen in broad daylight, thanks to the 1000nit anti-reflection screen. The battery is mounted at the center to make balancing and maneuvering quick and easy, and can also last a whole day’s shoot. It’s definitely one of the lightest 4K monitors today and is compatible with most cameras, including smartphones and SDI/HDMI-ready imaging devices.

Atomos Shinobi - Designed for every situation

When attached to your camera, the size and weight of your monitor matters. We shaved Shinobi down to just 196g (7oz) and added ¼”-20 screw mounts top and bottom for ease of cage and adaptor rigging. The center mount battery makes balancing easy and maneuverability instant. The Shinobi is compatible with most cameras, smartphones and SDI/HDMI-ready devices.
