The recorder works well for 4K 60fps capture but as a discontinued product it is nearly impossible to get support from the Atomos website and even firmware updates require a special link obtained from the Atomos customer support people. The good part is that brackets are easy to find (but be careful as the Shogun models have changed over the years and there are multiple versions that vary slightly in their external dimensions. Media is dirt cheap with 1TB SSD cards selling for less than $100. Be careful as Atomos does not maintain a database of tested cards that will work for 4K 60 fps recording and many have had problems with media problems and with the Shogun itself. At this time it is safer to go with the Ninja V Plus. It too has its issues but it is better supported than the Shogun models.

This monitor is absolutely amazing! The image quality and functionality are exactly what I needed. I use this on my Panasonic EV-A1 which I power using a D-Tap. The only issue I had was the D-Tap power cable that was supplied did not fit my D-Taps. Had to purchase a different cable which works perfectly.

Not the fault of the products or the listing but when acquiring and using the Atomos Shogun 7 you will need to make sure you purchase a HTML and mini HTML cable. Works great.

This is my first and last recorder from Atomos. I'll admit, on the surface it looks great, functions great and is at a price point that's hard to pass up. But after using it twice on a multi-camera job, where thousands of dollars are at stake and reliability is crucial, this unit failed miserably, After recently switching and recording a multicam concert-- without any power or SSD issue, or any indication of an issue-- I tried to copy over the ProRes files only to find them unreadable. The entire event: PGM file, ISO files were broken, corrupted and beyond repair. As a long time user of Video Devices and Convergent Design recorders, I have never experienced one corrupted or unreadable video file. I had a lot of hope for the Shogun 7, but it has proven disastrous when I needed it to perform it's most basic function-- reliably record!

Unbelievable HDR
Atomos Shogun 7 is a precision HDR monitor-recorder-switcher designed for the film and video professional. It can be used as either a stand-alone field monitor, recorder and switcher for event, documentary and live in-the-field storytelling; or as a tool for large-scale on-set episodic TV, film and cinema productions where multiple crew members such as focus pullers, grips and cinematographers require a consistent visual reference across the field monitor ecosystem. Shogun 7's portable size lets you monitor, analyze and tag while on set; and check how your content will look in your audience's home via real-time Dolby Vision output. With Shogun 7 you're not locked into any format, camera manufacturer or pipeline. It is a completely flexible master recording and production station.
Live multi-cam has never been more portable
Monitor, record and switch between 4 live HD SDI video streams (and one program stream) for flexible in-the-field directing. Enjoy the freedom of asynchronous switching and gen lock in & out to connect to existing infrastructure. Shogun 7 offers up to HDp60 SDI ISOs x 4 recording. Once you've finished capturing your streams, just import the Atomos xml file into your NLE and your timeline populates with all your edits in place. Audio is also taken care of, with each ISO and program record, we insert the mixed analog stereo channels and embed 2 channels of digital audio in each recorded stream. The program stream always records the analog feed and switches between audio inputs for the on-camera audio to match the switched feed.
Single-camera storytelling in 4K, or 2K slow-mo
With the latest HDMI 2.0v you can capture up to 4Kp60 on any available camera, or via Quad Link, Dual Link or Single Link. If slow motion capture is important to your production, Shogun 7 lets you capture 2K up to 240p. You can tag on-the-fly while recording for direct-to-edit look up in Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere and Avid Media Composer.
