I bought a Pro 61 and Pro 63 in 2015, for use while my household goods, including all my sound gear was in storage while house hunting. They served me well for live performance, the Pro 61 on voice and the Pro 63 on my acoustic guitar. There have been real improvements in neodymium dynamic microphones since I bought several Electro-Voice N/D mics in the late 1980's. The Pro 61 and 63 are hotter than the Shure SM58 and SM57, respectively and are better balanced - most noticeably more high-end response. With a new recording project on my plate, I had occasion to A/B all the vocal and instrument dynamic mics in my collection, to choose the best one for my purposes. One surprise was in picking in a microphone for narrating text, to make audio files for blog posts I've written. I have a chesty baritone voice and the Pro 61 proved best out of 10 mics tested: Pro 61, 63, SM57, SM58, Audix i5, EV N/D 257, 357, 457, MXL V67G (condenser), MXL 603 (condenser). What I'm surprised that I never noticed, is how terrible the 'instrument' dynamics are with plosives. Easily corrected with a foam filter and pop screen. The Pro 63 proved good on vocal/acoustic guitar recordings as a room mic. I prefer the Pro 61 up close and personal on vocals. I do wish they were better known and more popular in the US. With a Fethead in line with phantom power, they deliver great clean signal to the board. Well done, AT!

Why settle for less when you can have the best in audio recording and amplification The Audio-Technica PRO61 Hypercardioid Dynamic Handheld Microphone is a high-quality, professional-grade microphone designed for those who demand superior sound quality. This rugged, durable handheld microphone is engineered to deliver exceptional gain-before-feedback response, making it a reliable choice for both live performances and studio recordings.
The PRO61 is specifically designed for vocal pick up in sound reinforcement and recording applications, ensuring your voice is captured with clarity and precision. Its hypercardioid polar pattern is highly effective in rejecting off-axis noise, including audio from monitor speakers, which can cause feedback. This feature allows the microphone to focus on the sound directly in front of it, minimizing background noise and enhancing the clarity of the recorded or amplified sound.
With an extended frequency response of 70-16000 Hz, the PRO61 enhances the clarity and character in vocals, capturing a wide range of sound frequencies. This makes it a versatile choice for various applications, from live performances to recording studios and broadcasting.
The dynamic element of the PRO61 features a neodymium magnet, ensuring maximum output gain with a low noise floor. This results in a powerful, clear sound that stands out in any mix. Additionally, the superior internal shock mounting reduces handling noise, allowing for smoother recordings and performances.
A protective 2-stage grille reduces plosive noise, further enhancing the sound quality. Whether you're capturing vocals on stage or in a recording studio, the Audio-Technica PRO61 Hypercardioid Dynamic Handheld Microphone is designed to deliver professional, high-quality sound every time.
