I'm no "audiophile" .... I just like music (I guess that qualifies me to say a few words abut these headphones). First I had been using the Massdrop 6xx for quite some time and love them. But when I saw these on sale at Adorama I could not resit trying them. I had always wondered what an planar magnetic headphone would sound like. All I can say is that my 6xx are now in the closet. The sound from these headphones is on a different level that the 6xx. I can't describe it but it makes my music seem to fill my head. Seperation of the instruments is wonderful. I must also say that these headphones are very comfortable and I can listen longer than I can on my 6xx headphones. They do tend to get a little warm on my ears after a while but letting in some air for a few seconds takes care of that.

The left speaker quite working and I have not had these very long at all. Disappointed. Two different cables, the left speaker does not work.

These sound rather wide for closed back, and also have the benefit of leaking almost no sound as well. I got these for $ and it was more than worth the price.

Great clarity, speed and articulation while being private. Not very bass heavy, so if you want to "feel" the bass, this would not be great for that. It is able to display lower frequencies well, just not very powerfully.

I bought these for my wife who spends hours upon hours watching Anime and playing video games and she absolutely loves them. I did buy a amp to go with them off amazon and it pushes them perfectly!!

Leads you to another level of music enjoyment. It feels like listening lifeshow music on the VIP sit. Loud, lively but yet crystal clean. It just different from any other dinamic cans.

Clean refined sound and build quality is excellent but very lean on the bass and does not have the soundstage that you would expect from a $700 headphone.

these phones feel really substantial. it is not as good as lcd-3 or x of course, but with the right amp, it can sound as good as headphones twice of its price. with that being said, it is not really portable unless you don't mind carrying a portable amp/dac on top of its heavy (relatively speaking) weight already. I would recommend them if you are trying to get into the audeze and get the taste of entry level hi-fi.

These are the best closed back head phones I have heard. They are fast,musical, open and detsiled. If you like planer magnetic or electrostatic speaker designs you will like these.

Several years ago at the Consumer Electronics show several head phone amplifier manufactures were demoing with all the Audeze and Hifi Man headphones. I got to compare them all and for the money these are incredibly open detailed and fast. They compare well to the more expensive ones.

I love these! I have a nice dac/headphones amp but these sound surprisingly good direct from an iphone. If you want to take something with you while traveling that will give you high-end sound these will do it. Open back and no noise cancellation so wouldn't be the best on a plane but in a hotel room or at the beach would be amazing. Only way to tell they were refurbished was the sticker on the box - great deal.

The should stage isn't too wide, but the quick response and good details make up for it. A little heavy and your ears get a little hot, so don't expect to wear them for more than 2 hours without taking a breather :) My unit came missing the in-line mic cable, but Adorama customer service has been tracking it down for me.

A simple Google search will net you better reviews from more knowledgeable sources on these headphones than I could ever hoped to provide (in short, they're amazing). I'm here to write about Adorama's great customer service. The headphones I received from Adorama was refurbished rather than brand new like I ordered (oops). However, after I contacted customer service, they were fast to offer either an instantly shipped replacement or a partial refund if I chose to keep the headphones. I chose the latter and couldn't have been happier with my headphones.

Can't be beat in its price range. Easy to drive, but to hear it at its best you will need to drive with high-quality DAC/amp with high-quality source. My only complaints are that I find the headphone fit a bit tight, making long listening sessions uncomfortable. I had the pleasure of trying out Audeze LCD-2s--deeper bass and the fit was more comfortable. Of course, these higher impedance headphones require a headphone amplifier; they also cost considerably more than the EL-8s.
