clip design needs improvement

This little headphone worked for what I bought it for which was to block out chatters around me while working. I had it for about 4 years and finally the plastic clip in the back broke near the spring where it bends. Since I almost never used the clip, this was almost certain due to aging of the plastic and improper stress on the bend (as both sides of the bend are adding a lot of pressure/stress to it) . This is an area for design improvement.

Highly recommended

Had previously used the noise-excluding ear buds (they fit into your ear really tight). Got these between flights at JFK and have been extremely pleased with sound quality (and when you don't have background noise, no need to turn on the noise-cancelling feature, which has no impact on sound quality). Noise cancelling battery pack (1-AAA) can be clipped to shirt or belt, and kit comes with 2-prong adapter for airline use (GREAT), and fits comfortably in-ear with several buds for different ear sizes. Caution - my wife is upset because I didn't get her a set.

Excellent with a single exception

I've had the extremely expensive active cancelling ear phones that were great for flying and had decent enough sound, unfortunately I left my set on a cruise never to see them again. Later that year I had a 20 hour flight to the Middle East and really missed the active cancelling. So I searched the ginormous universe we call the Internet and after countless hours of reviews I settled on this set. At the price point the risk of a less-than-optimal set of headphones was an acceptable risk. In summary, I am very happy with these ear phones. The active noise cancelling rivals the Bose QC-15 without the ridiculous price and the sound quality is really good. Comfort: Very comfortable, I can have these in my ears all day without my ear canals hurting, sleeping with these in is so-so but that's to be expected. Sound Quality: Reproduces a nice wide range of sounds with excellent clarity, though some might complain they are a little "bass-y", I'm okay with that because too much treble tend to hurt my ears. That said, great for Techno and other music tracks that emphasis bass. Durability: Going on 8 months with regular use, but the thing I love about these is they just don't tangle like other ear buds I've used. I've used these running on treadmills, while flying, in the car, at work --just roll up and throw 'em in my bag. Ear tips are wonderful! I love the tips so much I swap 'em on to my phone ear headphone when I need to talk on the cell phone. Also keeps the ear phones in place when running, something silicon just can't do because they are slick. These headphones deserve a 5-star rating with a single exception..the active cancelling "control box" was put just short of the center of the cord, ~21" to the jack and ~30" to the headphones..what a pain-in-the-butt. There is simply no good way of wearing these headphones without the awkwardness. Plugged into my laptop the control box tends to slip off the desk or just gets in the way. I like ~8" of space between the edge of the desk to the laptop(keyboard); puts the keys at a comfortable distance. this give about ~13" of slack and you know where the end of that slack is? The control box ... so it falls off the desk, the headphones pop out the ear or are always tugging at it. A great example is trying to watch a movie on the laptop, you can't really lean back and stretch out to watch --always have to be within arms reach of the laptop otherwise the control box falls off the table/desk/airplane table. I can push the laptop further back on the desk but now I'm sitting really sitting up to my chest under the desk. I'm 5'9" and often there's not enough room behind the desk to stretch out, right because desks are against a wall. Can't clip it to yourself because the wire from box to computer is too short, no place on a desk to clip it. The same thing applies to walking running standing but opposite in annoyances. The control box is situated about belt level. There just isn't a great place to clip it. Can't really clip to the bottom of a shirt, because clip opening is toward device --so now headphone is leading to the "bottom" and the device attaches to the "top" of the control box. Too short from the headphones to put in pants pocket and too short from device to put in shirt pocket. TL:DR -bad control box placement, need to figure something out that works. Either put the box closer to the headphones or closer to the plug. I think 8"-10" from the plug would be better and would free up the headphones a little more. Really considering a modification to move the control box...

Outstanding value, Great performance, Excellent purchase

I purchased these headphones to reduce the audible clutter in my office. The active noise cancelling (not isolating), which is fairly uncommon in ear buds, functions very well. The headphones really do out perform their price tag. My only complaint with this product is the wire sheathing. The cords frequently become tangled. This is a small complaint, but as it is something I deal with every time I use the product, it's worth mentioning.

Great sound; great noise suppression

Compared to a different manufacturer's active noise-cancelling in-ear monitors that I have used for about 2 years, the Audio Technica ATH-ANC23 in-ear monitors are so much better. (I use the earphones with music and internet radio apps on my Android phone.) The sound is crystal clear, with excellent undistorted bass. (Of course, using a good software app with tone and equalization controls helps improve the listening experience with any headphones.) The noise suppression is excellent, eliminating most background noise on my daily commute on the NYC subway system. The small battery compartment with spring-loaded clip is perfectly placed to clip to my belt or shirt. The variously sized rubber cushions allow perfect fitting to the ear. I like the fact that you can still use the earphones -- albeit without noise cancellation -- even if the switch is off or if the battery dies, unlike other similar products. Great product at a good price.

Ear buds to the noise cancelling job

I use the product to listen to aircraft radios while flying in a small plane. It significantly reduces the engine and slipstream noise. It also helps to save my hearing when using my riding lawnmower. The earbud wires are very fine and easily tangled. I don't know how long they'll last.

Effective product for surrounding noise reduction

The in ear canal pieces could be softer and more comfortable with more sizes of foam adapters.

Exceptional ear buds

I am very impressed by the quality given in this product. It is very lightweight, exceptional bass and sound and quietpoint tech really does cancel background noise out. They give many different sizes of ear plugs and even a foam pair that conforms to the shape of your ear (these are the ones that I use the most). I like the small pouch and airplane plugs (BIG PLUS FOR ME!!!!!!!!). I am more than happy with these ear buds I will definately look to Audio Technica in the future for all my listening needs.

Great sound with noise cancelling on overseas flight.

Bought these ear buds for an overseas trip theydid a great job at blocking the constant hum of the engines on the 777. This product came with the adapter needed to plug and play on the flight. Just drop in the AAA battery turn on the noise cancelling and you will hear the difference immediately. You don't have to use the noise cancelling to listen, just plug and play it still has good sound quality.

These earbud headphones have amazing sound and the noise canceling is very impressive!

ATH-ANC23 QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling In-Ear Headphones reduce distracting background noise by up to 90% while offering the superior sound. Engineered to create a comfortable listening environment in areas with high ambient noise, these in-ear headphones feature a miniature microphone in each earpiece that picks up ambient noise (such as traffic, air-handling systems, etc.).

Electronics in the control box create a noise-cancelling wave that is 180deg. out of phase with the ambient noise. This wave acts like a noise eraser: it cancels out the annoying sounds that surround you without diminishing the audio you want to hear. The result, a peaceful enclave to enjoy the music or movies of your choice.
