Amazing. I used to own the m50x and these are WAVES above. The audio is so clear and defined, so beautiful. Listening to music on these is like eating candy. Addicting.

Upon testing and listening to these headphones I have come to the conclusion that they are either defective, or were damaged in shipping. There is a highly noticeable rattle that can be heard in the Right (R) earmuff when the driver is producing certain frequencies, it also happens when the volume is increased beyond a certain level. I am also not a fan of the low end frequency response, in my ears I find it to be severely lacking, and the piercing clarity of the mid and treble frequencies completely overdrives the soundstage. The included cord lengths are also much to short to be considered usable in a variety of applications. The ear pads themselves are not quite beefy enough to protect someone with larger ears like myself from the driver dome, and do a poor job at sound isolation as a result. For now, I much happier with my ATH-G1 headphones, even though they are market as a "gaming" headset, I prefer their soundstage and comfort far greater than the ATH-MSR7BBK.

I'm in my early 50's and my music listening experience changed drastically last year when I bough the first pair of these. The difference between this and all the other headphones I had used before, many of them also from Audio Technica, is remarkable. Those other headphones were great, like the very popular ATH-M50x, but the ATH-MSR7b are absolute perfection. The sound is crystal clear, and the stereo separation is excellent. I'm able to hear instruments in albums that I hadn't noticed before. Paired with an excellent DAC like the Qudelix 5K, these headphones will give you a listening experience that will be far above everything else. The only things that I criticize from them are: 1) The cable is too short and the surface is rather rubbery, so it gets stuck on things very easily. For example, many times I turn my desk chair, and the DAC falls down and dangles from the cable. 2) The left and right channels are so poorly marked that I actually had to create two labels, one with L and the other with R to stick them on them to tell the sides apart. This is true for the headphones themselves but also for the detachable cables that plug to each side, which have a tiny L and R that are very difficult to read. This is especially problematic because labels from a typical label maker don't stick to the small plugs. 3) They come with two cables, one for unbalanced 3.5mm and the other for balanced 4.4mm, but no cable or adapter for balanced 2.5mm, so if you have a Qudelix 5k for example, you need to buy a separate cable. 4) The plugs in these two cables are L shaped, so they are a pain sometimes. But these things are just minor inconveniences when the amazing sound quality is taken into account. Best headphones I ever had, so much that I bought two pairs (one of each color) and that's all I will ever need.

Pros: The headphones are actually incredible. The sound quality is great with clean tight bass, and smooth full mids and highs. They are also very comfortable and lightweight which I absolutely love because I can easily use these for 6hr without a break and I experience soreness from these. I am In love with them and for price to performance, there isn't a better headphone out there. now for the cons.. First off which isn't a big deal at all, the plastic squeak when adjusting the headphones is annoying at times but really isn't a big deal. My only true con with these headphones and with audio technica in general, they have 0 cable replacements to adapt to a regular used 1/4 jack. These instead come with a 4.4mm jack and a regular 3.5mm which using a 3.5mm to a 1/4 adapter makes the headphones cut out every time the aux is barely even touched, so using a midi interface, you have to get some special 4.4mm interface in order to even use these to their full potential. Then you try to find replacement cables and..... there is not a single 1/4 inch cable replacement for these. overall: I will say as much as the connectivity is the only con with these, the pros of the comfort and sound quality is so great that the overall rating I would give is 8.7/10. Yes the connection is annoying but the quality of everything else does make it all worth it and I am loving my headphones to this day 8 months later.

Bought these to replace a pair of old Klipsch. Sounds great but bass not quite the same as the old pair. Guess it's true they don't make them like the used to..

I've been a long-time user of the original ATH-M50 (which are still kicking even though the pleather handband covering has flaked off entirely), and the difference in sound signature was immediately noticeable upon switching over to the ATH-MSR7b. Although it loses some of the bass punch of the M50, the separation and resolution are worlds above. I decided on this pair after reading reviews that cited how impressively in performs in the mids, and it absolutely delivers there; piano and female vocals in particular really shine on these cans. Treble can be a bit piercing at times, but it's never been a high priority for me so I can deal. All in all very pleased with my choice, even moreso when you realize what you get for the price. Highly recommended! I also purchased the Geekria Ultrashell case to store them in, fits like a glove.

Great sounding, wish for a bit deeper ear cushions. They fit around my ears just brush the inside. Clarity and coloration are just right for an old rocker like me.

I use this primarily for Esport level gaming. the audio is super clear and amazing, better than anything I've bought before. however, the size of the earmuffs is really small. my ears aren't that big but they hit the hard piece inside the headphones because they are not deep and are small. and with the really long durations, ill use them for my ears hurt from them.

My expensive audiophile headphones got stolen, and reluctant buying another expensive pair. At my age with typical high frequency hearing loss, these are good enough. Too soon for opinion on reliability/durability. Sound quality is above price paid. Very light headphones, which is nice, though some equate too light with low quality. I'm ok with lightweight, but will have to see how these hold-up. Like the dual cable connectors. There is a strong smell of chemical/plastic still after three days. I hope these headphones gas out sooner rather than later. I'm using a rather expensive amplifier/DAC with these headphones. Overkill for sure. I'm not sure how well these headphones scale with the kind of headphone amplifier/DAC I own, but at least the person who stole my expensive audiophile headphones did not also steal my amplifier/DAC. I am grateful for that at least. Please Audio Technica just a bit more roominess around the ear pads. My ears are not huge, but they are nonetheless rather cramped with the OEM ear pads. I may find some aftermarket ear pads as replacement eventually, though one must be careful using third party ear pads as replacements, as they can easily change the sound of a headphone for the worse. I speak from experience more than a few times doing so. Thank you Audio Technica for releasing this updated model. I think mostly you did a fine job at the price point.

PROS-Very good headphone for the price range, blows my M50's away that i had for 8 years, Bass is not as much as the m50's, but it had a deeper bass, balanced across the board great details on mids and vocals, good low end, sound stage is decent, Imaging is also decent, these heaadphones should be in place of the m50s.. v shaped sounding headphones Cons- the propitiatory dual entry plugs is not my flavor, maybe a dual 3.5 mm end would be suitable, cord could be a little longer, have interchangeable cords like another cord for a mic, after all it is a portable headphone, Comfort was a big one, definitely a big upgrade if you come from the m50s but the pads on the inner touch my ears and get uncomfortable, it be nice if they offered pads like the hm5 pads but not as steep as they are, but overall great headphone for the price i could see it compete with higher end models Sound test was done on a simple 3.5mm, with my DAC and is easy to drive, very light and not over clamped like the original MSR7's

I use these in my office with a dragonfly red, and they sound fabulous. Very light weight and good stability on the head, still comfortable after hours of use and no pressure on the ears or skull.
