Bought this to avoid buying some garbage novelty player with built in speakers. Out of the box it's simple to assemble and I had it up and running in just a few minutes. When I initially plugged it in it turned on and started to try to "play" a record. A quick hit on the stop button put an end to that. Once I had an actual record in place and hit play the machine did all the work for me. The arm came over and placed itself where it needed to be. Love it. Nothing too special to look at but the clear cover is a great addition for cat owners like myself. The whole thing is very simple and easy to use. My only complaint is the length of the RCA output cable. It comes attached to the unit and is *maybe* two feet long. I had to run out to the store and buy an extender to properly hook it up to my system. Not a deal breaker but definitely think about where you're going to be placing this when you buy it.

I had difficulty initially getting the recordings at the correct speed. I learned that the inside belt was on the hub instead of the shaft. (That will make sense if you purchase this item.)

Bought this for the family room. Plugs right into the Sony system. My son bought me some rock and roll LP's to go with it.

Seems very reliable. Sound quality is good. Very simple operation. Don't need the USB, but the non-USB version seems to be hard to find in stock. This store was a bit more expensive, but I like their customer service, so I bought it from them.

I transferred a record collection of Indian music to an iPod so that she could enjoy her music in the car, at home to sleep or meditate by, and to share her country's music with her grandchildren.
