they sound amazing with the cipher cable. with the bluetooth or standard cable they're still okay, but not as good. If you're listening off your phone, you want that cipher cable. The ear attachments are a bit fragile so I do recommend a proper carrying case. the lightning connect needs to be maintained with a regular cleaning. Frankly, I'd get two cipher cables just to have back up. They're not as rugged as I'd like. be careful about having moisture around them.

Best sounding earphones I have ever heard and excellent sound stage. Wish they would stay in my ears better. You can also use the Audeze wifi cable but that cuts out some of the highs. Proprietary cable.

Does not sound good out of the box with 3.5mm cable. I, however, knew this because I did a ton of research on these before actually purchasing them. After some EQ and getting them connected to a good amp these things sing. Incredible sound which I expect from Audeze and anything that retails remotely close to what these actually retail for. Highly recommend if you are an audiophile that wants incredible sound and into power sources and EQing. I do not recommend these if you are a casual music listener. It takes some work to get them sounding to their capabilities. Unless you have an Iphone and purchase the Cipher cable. Us Android users have to work a little but well worth it.

Excellent sounding headphones that definitely benefit from an amplifier and DAC. I've seen other reviews where people were upset that these headphones don't come with the cipher cable from Audeze. However, it clearly says in the title, "standard 1/8" audio cable" so I don't know what these people were expecting. Overall, excellent range with very accurate reproduction. No distortion at high volumes. Easy to drive off a mobile source but ultimately sound better with an amp. The biggest downside is that they feel kind of fragile. Although the housing is metal, everything from the two-pin connector to the ear loops and just holding the headphones makes them feel delicate. I haven't broken anything yet, but I just notice myself handling them much different than my other IEMs.

You will enjoy this headphones IF you use it with a DAC, a headphone amplifier and a good source of audio files. The sound is really good, clear and great soundstage. Heck this is an Audeze and it is a great deal at $229. Grab it before it's gone.

Everything was in the box except the most important part: The cipher cable. Without this cable don’t bother. They sound very average and you can get wayyyy better for the same price e.g. 1More, RHA, Etymotic, Shure, Sennheiser, etc. The sound in these was unrefined, with sharp highs and no low end. I messed around with different eartips and it made no difference. Keep in mind I’m using Tidal so the source is good. Skip these unless you want to shell out the money for the full experience that costs over 500 dollars.
