Excellent stereo seperation, clarity and noise cancelation. Allows multiple choices for volume level and bass rolloff. Very good use of the one 9v batery power it requires (100+ hours of use.) So why not 5 stars? 1) Things can always be better. 2) The camera mount is slightly oversized and is next to impossible to fit on my D7000 without bending the metal brackets. However, they cleverly made the mount with a tripod mount as well, so I choose that option. This is a tough mic and a great deal. The mic quite working after only two months. Rode was very good about replacing it. They had no units in the states so they shipped one directly from Australia. I was pleased with their service. I like the quality of sound it records. The replacement has worked consistently for five months.

So far I've only done very limited testing with this on my 5D Mark 2. It does improve the sound over the internal microphone by a huge degree. Shouldn't be too long before I test it out in a small venue concert setting. One minor downer I noticed is that the "dead kitten" wind screen seems to come off the mic rather easily. I don't see any mechanism to help secure it. Maybe I will try a rubber band around it or something similar.
