Questions & Answers

Shopper : Can I use this with my Canon t3i?ROBERT G : Yes, absolutely.DONALD D : It should work just fine. Great mic for price pointPETER S : If the Canon t3i has a 1/8 inch mic input, then yes you can. I use this with my Lumix GH4 and for speaking it's fine. It certainly wouldn't provide the quality for a singer in a concert.
Kirsty J : Can this be used with my laptop? Or is it just for smart Phones?DONALD D : This mic works just fine with my HP laptop. It also works with my Tascam DR-05 recorderMARK H : Can be used with lap top as well....ACCOUNTS P : You can use it on either. The adaptor that it comes with takes the standard TRS cable of the microphone (which you'd use with your laptop) and let you use it with any smartphone that accepts TRRS, which is almost all modern ones. If you don't use the adaptor, though, you can use it with any standard microphone 3.5mm input.
Shopper : Why does this mic have a battery but the Rode Smart Lav which is also for iPhones does not? Which is better and why?

Its good (not great) Its bad (not horrible)

This product is extremely fragile. I own over a dozen of these things. They have a life span of 6 month if your using them 3 - 4 times a week. The mic attachment to cord is very breakable, weak and flimsy. (this without doubt is due to a design flaw). You have to process the sound via a multi-channel mixer or something to get better sound quality. The insulation around the wire is way to thin, anything can create interference. (if you touch the wire, you get feed back. If you move the wire to much, you get feed back. If you have the wire near a cell phone , laptop computer, or any other appliance, you get feed back). When you buy this thing, also buy yourself a role of electrical tape. However, its redeeming quality is. If you know what your doing you can replicated sound quality from lavaliers that cost 50x more (yes, fifty). It has its own power (that is huge). It pretty easy to use, and if it gets stolen or damaged its no big deal (it come with the lapel clip, wind sock - all good things) It should come with a 3.5mm to 1/4 inch adapter. Its exceptionally long cord has come in handy more then once.
