This pair of studio monitors is equipped with an innovative "VTPC" knob, short for "Variable Tissue Paper Control," enabling you to emulate anything from the Vertical "m" model to the horizontal "Studio" model and everything in between.The CLA-10A's are powered by the AV10MHF and AV10MLF drivers from the renowned CLA-10 series, ensuring consistent, high-quality sound. The robust cabinet construction further enhances the audio output, providing a rich, immersive listening experience.One of the standout features of the CLA-10A's is the robust Class A/B power amp section. Unlike most two-way active speakers that use a switch mode supply and Class D amplifier, the CLA-10A's stay true to tradition, delivering the classic sound that audio engineers worldwide have come to appreciate.The CLA-10A Active studio monitors utilize a linear power supply and offer 200 watts of Class AB output. The system operates at +/-40 VDC, providing a solid 200WRMS at 1kHz into 8 ohms. This powerful output is achieved through the use of a monolithic integrated circuit Class AB amplifier with a wide voltage range and high current output capability.The CLA-10A's also boast an impressive THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) rate. At low power, the THD is an incredible 0.005%, and at rated load, it's just 0.1%. This ensures excellent performance at power compared to class D amps.The CLA-10A's use a mixed bipolar MOS high voltage technology called BCDII 100/120, which prevents secondary breakdown phenomena. This technology allows for high current output without the need for complex circuitry or external components, delivering high power in a compact package with the clean, smooth sound of a linear amplifier.In keeping with the traditional design, the CLA-10A's use a linear power supply instead of a switch mode power supply. The power supply features a large, old-school toroidal transformer, ensuring the classic performance of an AB amplifier.
