The bulbs are okay, a little harsh/bluish, and 1/4 arrived already burned out, which is a problem.

I ordered two of these 27W bulbs. On arrival they looked fine as did the packaging, although both had a minor rattle. Switching them on, both failed. One started to illuminate at the lower end and within 30 seconds went out. The other did the same, accompanied by some smoke. Adorama honored my explanation and I was able to make another selection, which worked well.

The bulbs are very bright and have a perfect daylight balance, they work amazingly for video. Although the bulbs have a fairly audible hum which only gets worse when you're using multiple bulbs in the same location, so I wouldn't recommend for home use unless you have a high tolerance for irritating noises. They're best used if kept on a lamp and only brought out for video/photo work. Not to mention the fact the bulbs are obscenely large, so they don't fit in most home fixtures. But I would absolutely recommend them if you are looking for bright daylight balanced light for a project.

I needed bulbs with a slightly lower light output than those that came with a lighting kit and these work fine.

I did not check professional since I am not an optometrist or a psychologist, however, I have a Home Office in a very old house where extra lighting is necessary. The light from these CFL bulbs is indeed Joyous! the quality of light is calm and pure, and they seem to promote a good feeling in the rooms where I have them. Hope this helps.
