This an entry level mic and mine gets "used" a lot. It is my third one that was used as a replacement for the factory mics that failed on some Sony PD-150s and a Sony DSR-500. Great Mic for the money, It is still an entry level Mic.

This is the second SGM-2X mic I've bought. For the money, it's a LOT of mic. For a producer on a budget, you get two for the price of one and both are good; not super great, but really good, and good enough for most applications. The pattern in shotgun mode isn't that tight, but still has good rejection, again especially for the price. Slight hiss in the audio in really quiet passages, but can be diminished in post with a decent setup. The bass roll off switch is a nice touch, but should be used with caution as it can add a touch of sibilance in some situations, especially high db ones. Overall, having two mics for that price with decent sound quality is outstanding. Don't expect a top end Neumann, but then a Shure SM58 is the most popular vocal mic in the world and it's less than $100, so price isn't everything. Why didn't I give it five stars? Because it's really, really good, but not fantastic. I'd give a Maxima four stars, but a BMW M5 would get five.
