CHARLES L : What is the scale of the fretboard (In inches.  Full size scale is 25.5 inches)  Are the frets arranged closer together for easier playing?WILLIAM R : I measured 25 1/2" with 20 frets this should be good for teens and adults.
CHARLES L : What is the scale length of this guitar?  In other words, is the length of the neck shorter than full-sized guitars, 23 or 24 inches instead of the usual 25.5 inches?  Is the distance between the frets less than usual to allow for easier fingering?

Very nice guitar. Needs a little fret work.

Beautiful guitar, but dangerous. The frets were absolutely the worst and sharpest I've ever bought. Luckily, I filed them myself and made them acceptable to play. Accept for that, it plays great and sounds very very good.

B20ant guitar

I received two of these guitars the first the neck was broken from the body and got another one insurance covered and both had near razor sharp fret ends so the frets will need to be addressed first thing before playing it however the necks seem straight and true as well the intonation is pretty fair, so be prepared to spend a couple hours on these. They are not packed with good protection so you should expect to get a broken guitar. But for the sale price it could be worth putting the time in dressing the frets but at the regular price nope.

Wouldn't waste your time

Not a good place to start. I recommend this guitar if you have lots of experience doing involved setup work. Mine arrived with razor sharp fret ends, action 3 miles high, a neck that seems a bit wonky, and a gap at the neck joint. Needless to say, it's going back.

Buzzer

This guitar has good sound but took much work to set up. Frets were like saw teeth. Action buzz I'm still chasing. I recommend it if you can fix a lot of deficiencies it does have good tone.

Great bang for the buck

Top notch guitar for the price. Sounds as good as some pricier guitars. Can't go wrong with this.

Great beginner guitar with resonant sound and nice feel. Poor intonation.

This is a great beginner guitar. I love the pattern on the rosette, and the black matte finish on the sides and back is very nice. Neck and action are great. Even with a laminate top, it is very resonant. Has a good sound and great feel. The intonation is pretty bad as you go up the neck, but it's a $50 guitar. What do you expect? Definitely not worth getting a setup that will cost more than the guitar itself. For me, this will be my camping guitar that I don't have to worry about getting dirty or potentially exposed to the elements. I wish that it came with a pickguard. I have owned cheap and expensive acoustic guitars. This is definitely not going to replace a Taylor, Martin, or Teton. But it sounds better than some Fender laminate top acoustics I have played. If you're not ready to pay a lot of money for a guitar and just want to try it out first, this is definitely the guitar for you. If it were more expensive, I'd only give it three stars due to intonation issues, but since it's cheap, I'll give it four.

Surprisingly a very nice guitar.

This hits way above its price. First This is NOT a small guitar. It's bigger than my ibanez talman tcy10. That is a 3/4 guitar. It's almost the size of my fender California newporter. It's not a dreadnought but the the bass is impressive. The action could be lower but it's perfectly fine as is. No buzz. No pain. It looks nice and neck feels nice. I don't think u can go wrong at 43 bucks.

Great cheap guitar with a little new owner TLC

Fantastic inexpensive guitar, after a little TLC. Note the body depth; this is the same thickness as my dreadnoughts making it more of a Grand Auditorium 0000/M size. Frets were probably dressed cleanly at the factory, but had significant sprout by the time I received it. Plan on buying a rounded fret-end file if you don't already have one. Strong glue smell, so I think the construction was still settling. After about a month now, the guitar sounds better and holds tune better, with just a little additional sprout. Setup is fantastic, needed just the slightest truss rod relief tweak to get rid of fret buzz. Even the factory strings are good. Volume is on par with my SP and Seagull Cedar dreadnoughts, with more recessed mids meaning a little less string definition, but plenty of bass and treble. I don't know if this is due to materials or shape, I don't have another auditorium to compare it to. Finish is very matte. Not a junk toy guitar like you might find at a department store. If you can file frets and do a simple setup, this is a great full-sized guitar.

Boroughs B20ANT review. Surpising Value Purchase of Starter Guitar / with suggested and non-optional modifications required.

Boroughs B20ANT review: I didn't know what to expect. Coming from a new company there wasn't sufficient feedback from actual purchasers. The sponsored vid reviews I found online seemed predjuiced, predicable and commercial using paid musicans. The end result was that I didn't know what to expect regarding the actual quality and sound of the guitar, or playability. I decided to make the purchase because I wanted to try the size and shape of an orchestra model in my hands, and becuase of the very inexpensive sales price with free shipping. I am am 71 years old and have experience with larger dreadnaught acoustic guitars. I am however an amatuer with limited skills. Once again I wasn't sure what I would receive, and figured that if it were unplayabvle I could give it away or discard it without any serious regret. I most wanted the experiece of the size as an orchestra model. Well frankly, despite initial serious concerns, I got quite a favorable overall surprise given the price point of this guitar. My first initial reaction was mixed. Adorama shipped the guitar in a flimsy box with completely inadequate inner protection. The shipping box was also the factory product box. There was NOT a appropriate outer shipping box with product box within. There was no shielding so the cardboard was pierced in several places. I crossed my fingers that the guitar would be OK when I opened the box. The delivery driver handed the box to me and wanted a signature, so I became distracked and didn't see the minor carton damage on the underside of the carton and did not ask to make a note of possible damage to the guitar. Be wise, and check your box if you buy one of these. Adorama, come on, if you're smart don't ship guitars in packaging like this! I was lucky. When I did open the box, the guitar was OK. It could however had been damaged and would have been returned by me. Next. I checked the guitar with my hands and eyes. I did like what I saw physically. It was immediately obvious that the string height needed to be lowered - too high. The strings were somewhat lose upon arrival, as I expected. During my initial attempt at tuning, I found two of the tuners to be having a problem holding the tension. I was able to achieve tuning eventualy on five strings but the 5th A string simply would not maintain tension. Then I simply heard a snap and the string lost all tension and I had an inoperative tuning key with lose string. The key itself was defective and it also seemed that the string itself had been improperly wound in the first place when setup. When completely loose it was apparent that this 5th string had not been inserted into the hole in the tuner. The hole was not visible. I never saw anthing like that before. In any case, the tuner was inoperable and it was therefore impossible to tune the string. I thought of returning the guitar, but the sound of the other strings unexpctedly sounded brighter and more resonant than I expected. So, because of the string sound and sale price I decided to replace and upgrade the tuners completely. Bottom line: I found that if you replace and upgrade the factory tuners to quality aftermarket tuners to insure tuning stability, and change out the strings to light gauge acoustic strings, and then adjust the truss rod (in my case about three 1/8 turns to lower strings) you will be greatly suprised and pleased at the result. I found no physical defects on the guitar regarding finish, bridge, nut, interior. I intially though that the edge of frets might need sanding when I removed the guitar from the box bit found no edge sharpness initially or after much playing. Finally, about the playability. This is where I have become increasingly pleased after two weeks of playing. This guitar, with the suggested modifications, can be played soft and hard. It sounds clear, no fret buzz. It is much louder than I expected. The notes are balanced. The sound is bright and what I would expect from the laminate spruce top wood. The neck feels very comfortable in my hands and the body shape fits me better than my dreadnaughts (Yamaha and Martin). I prefer to play without a pick using my thumb, finers and nails - mixed- so the sound I experience realy suprised and pleased me. If you want to give this guitar to a beginner, I would recommend that you make the noted modifcations. If you don't modify the guitar, you may be disappointed and likely experience difficulties. With modifcastions I think you will be grealy pleased. Think about this for a moment: The sale price of this non-electric acoustic guitar was less than $49.00 with free shipping. The upgraded tuners cost $25.00. Upgraded strings less than $12.00. Truss rod self-adjustment was Free. Plus sales tax. Albiet there was some shipping and packaging concerns (Adorama wake up!) The quality, however, of this guitar will surprise you as it exhibits much greater value trhan its actual cost.

It's a great first guitar.

I got it on a deal and I must say it's perfect for its price. It does not feel cheap and is well-built sounds excellent. If you are learning or want to learn, this is a great pick. It is my first guitar and I am learning so I can say it is great for a beginner but my friend who knows how to play was also impressed with this.

Pleasantly surprised by how good this guitar played

I honestly didn?t expect much. How good could a brand new guitar be for only $50? I was genuinely surprised when it came. The guitar itself is beautiful and it plays like a dream. The sound quality is better than some of the higher end guitars I?ve played. The action is perfect for my playing style. I bought a second one after having this one for a week because I couldn?t get over how well it played for such a low price

Wow wow wow. Super Good Craftsmanship

Great guitar. Not a toy that goes out of tune every strum. Great for my small hands with a big sound and matching my voice key perfectly. I can?t believe how such a quality for such a inexpensive acoustic guitar. The finish is beautiful. I bought 4 to give away to great grand children in the gig bags I also bought from you but I want to keep them all for myself. Tee her hee. Be sure to tell Boroughs how good they are so they can Jack the price up to 300 dollars each. He he. Now I need cheap amps to go with other 5 guitars I bought. 2 channel 2 inputs. Bluetooth. Tell me what you have. Thanks.

A little cleanup, but great guitar for the price

Came well packed and in good shape. Surprisingly low action out of the box, but needed some relief. Included wrench made that easy. Ends of frets are sharp and need a little cleanup and mine had a high fret at the body that needed a little filing. Sounds great for a $50 guitar.

Your Love Of Music Starts Here.

The Boroughs B20A Auditorium Acoustic Guitar with Sunburst Finish gives aspiring and seasoned guitar players alike everything they need in a beginner guitar. The Auditorium has a smaller frame with a focused midrange sound that’s ideal for finger-picking and folk playing. Great size and shape for kids and teens. Boroughs considered everything down to the smallest detail to guarantee that this is the sweetest sounding, best playing guitar on the market at this price. Perfect for new students, budding songwriters, and seasoned players alike. Picking up a new instrument is a thrilling, fun, challenging, and rewarding experience, which is why Boroughs designed our guitars to make sure it’s special and user-friendly for all players. Everything you need in your first guitar, nothing you don’t.

Intentional Design.

Designed by guitar players for guitar players. We start with a mid-sized Auditorium body design that features a thinner waist and rounder body for a focused, balanced tone that’s ideal for folk and fingerpicking playing style. The lubricated, 15:1 ratio, sealed-gear tuners ensure the instrument is easy to tune so players can focus on the sheer joy of playing. Our modern design headstock is not only stylish but has a straighter string pull making it easy to keep the instrument in tune. The spruce top, comfortable C-shaped neck and Techwood fingerboard add up to a full sounding instrument that is a pleasure to play. Lightweight satin finish feels good to the touch and allows the guitar to resonate freely, resulting in a great tone. Quality material, an industry standard X-braced top, and thoughtful design make for a better guitar.

Intentional Design.

It's All About The Experience.

The thin C shape neck makes for more comfortable playing. Easier to press down on the strings, making it an ideal guitar for kids and beginners. The fretboard feels smooth, thanks to the environmentally friendly Techwood, which is resistant to heat and humidity that can cause damage to fingerboards. Sealed gear tuners keep dirt and grime out, extending the lifespan of the tuning gears, while the high gear ratio (15:1) allows them to tune more accurately than tuning keys commonly found on guitars at this price. Other thoughtful features include a compensated saddle for accurate intonation and a strap button at the heel of the neck.

It's All About The Experience.

Functional & Attractive.

By focusing on the features that really make a difference to aspiring players, Boroughs has been able to develop attractive instruments that stand out in playability and sound compared to other brands. Simple bindings, rosettes, and finishes result in a modern but timeless look. We use industry standard spruce for our tops, resulting in guitars that look and sound great, compared to other brands that use low-cost, alternative woods to cut corners. Techwood fingerboards are smooth to the touch and are more resilient compared to low-cost Rosewood alternatives used by other brands. Finally, the 15:1 ratio, sealed gear tuners are superior to lower gear ratio, covered tuners used by many companies on their low-cost instruments. Tunes accurately and the permanently sealed and lubricated gears last longer.

Functional & Attractive.
