This is the first backdrop I've ever bought as I'm more of a natural light shooter. However, I had an idea for a portrait of a family about to welcome their newest addition and I needed a black backdrop for it. I simply placed the backdrop over a buffet/hutch with pillows on the top to hold it in place. Then, using only one off-camera flash fired through a soft box, a gold reflector, and some natural light coming through a nearby window, this backdrop allowed me to create the emphasis with the light exactly where I wanted. As long as you understand the most basic of flash photography (i.e. shutter speed = background exposure / aperture = flash exposure), then you'll be able to create the images you want using this!

Awhile back I ordered the 10x12 Belle Drape solid light grey background. I needed a white background for an upcoming photo shoot. So again I went with a Belle Drape, since the first was was very nice. Sadly this is not the case for the "heavy weight" white background. This background is paper thin, I can clearly see my hand behind it. It's frayed all the way around the edges.

Another great Adorama product, an added backdrop to my collection. The red one is next on my list!

I ordered the regular white Muslin back drop and the Black Muslin back drop and the only difference between the two is price and a label that says heavy. The texture is the same and I put each a weight scale and they weigh the same. I feel ripped off.

For the price, this background is perfect. We use it for photo-booth-type events and it's thick enough that with two strobes aimed at it, you don't see any background through it. With a little bit of steaming, 90% of the wrinkles went away the first time we got it out. Great cheap background!

Used this for basketball team photos. I placed a muslin backdrop underneath the black cloth because it was a little thin. Worked out fine this way.

Thick enough fabric to not be see-through when lit. Not too wrinkly. Seems fairly heavy duty. Decent quality for price paid.

I Love the Adorama Belle Drape series! With out it I would not have very many backgrounds, as I could not cost justify them. But with the Belle Drape's marvelous pricing and superior construction I have several. I must confess that I owned another brand's black muslin first but did not like it as the black was not consistent. So I tried this one as I had the white and really liked it. Well I like the black even more. Highly recommend it.

This is a great backdrop. It has enough weight to hang nicely. Smudges are easily removed with a dry Magic Eraser. It is hard to get wrinkles out though.

I purchased this backdrop for some High Key portraits I wanted to do and the backdrop was exactly what I needed. The wrinkles were and still are kind of difficult to smooth out. It definitely needs a good steaming to help ease out the creases but it's not see through and it's a great size. The white value was exactly what I was looking for and it photographs beautifully.

I love all of my Adorama Belle Drape backgrounds because they are a solid value for the price. For my studio they are perfect. I particularly like this black one. I tried several brands (well known brands) before I found this one and it is the best of them all. Solid color and solidly made.

I keep making the mistake of buying something cheep to keep down costs, and it always bites me, except this time. I love this background. It photographs very well. True white backdrop. It's heavyweight and I can't see through it, and it's strong. You can steam it free of wrinkles for the finished look, or crinkle it for a more casual look.

Need to plan for 6ft + from back drop, manage ambient and light spill over. Keep apertures large to insure a black background. Still reasonable value.

Good background for the price. Be careful with the lighting behind the background as is will show through. We have had to add a canvas background behind it when in certain situations. If you watch your lighting, this is a very good background. We use this background mainly for in home portraits and baby shoots.

Purchased two of these (two colors)and quality is good. My advice, always get the heavy weights. I cannot imagine anything thinner working as well. I use a small hand steamer to drop the fold creases after it's hung. Hemmed well, with sewn in logo. Even heavier muslin would get five stars for the money. Overall, well pleased so far.

The Quality of the fabric is good. However, when compared to other black muslins I own the color is closer to charcoal.

Nice consistent black throughout although a few specs of a lighter gray are woven into the material. Dye didin't make even coverage? Easily taken out in post.

Very nice background. Good coloring in photos. Always pay the little extra and get the heavy weight backgrounds, it's worth it!

I use this background for home studio in my living room. It works great for indoor photography but wrinkles easy as cotton dose. I remove any outstanding wrinkles in photo editing softwaer.

This is great for those just starting out in portraits or advertising photos. The deal with this is that it is a little wrinkly but an iron takes care of most of them. IF you can afford something more expensive that would not require so much maintenance you should, but if you're on a budget, this will suit your needs and you won't be disappointed. Its solid enough that it completely blocks out the background which is a problem for some white backdrops. Not for this one, its solid construction makes it preferable to the even cheeper ones (which I would stay clear of for white).

The muslin drape is reasonably heavy and gives a very good output. Color is consistent and deep black. However, it has to be steam ironed before use to remove major wrinkles. Also subject should not be very close to the background to avoid minor wrinkles appearing in the photos.
