After a true homage to the iconic synthesizers of the 1980s and 90s, the Behringer MS-1 MK II-RD 32-Key Analog Monophonic Synthesizer in vibrant red offers an ultra-affordable solution for musicians seeking classic analog sound with modern enhancements. This synthesizer retains all the beloved features of the original, such as a 32-step sequencer, arpeggiator, and live performance kit, while introducing additional capabilities for sound creation with remarkable finesse and ease.
Equipped with 32 semi-weighted full-size keys, the MS-1 MK II-RD boasts a pure analog signal path and an authentic 3340 Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO). This VCO provides an impressive range of four simultaneously-mixable waveforms saw, triangle, square/pwm, and octave-divided square sub-oscillator allowing for extensive sound sculpting. The oscillator's flexibility is further enhanced by its adjustable 4-octave range (16', 8', 4', and 2'), empowering musicians to explore their creative potential fully.
The heart of the MS-1 MK II-RD's sound lies in its versatile Voltage Control Filter (VCF), featuring faders for cutoff frequency, resonance, envelope and modulation depth, and keyboard follow. This VCF can be modulated through the ADSR envelope, keyboard tracking, and Bender controller, offering a wide array of sound-shaping possibilities. The Frequency Modulation (FM) Amount knob and FM Source selector provide additional layers of sound modification.
The synthesizer's envelope generator includes four ADSR (Attack, Decay, Sustain, and Release) faders, complemented by a 3-position switch for Gate, Gate + Trigger, and LFO. This setup allows for precise control over the sound's evolution, whether applied to the VCA for note level control or the VCF for filter cutoff frequency modulation.
With an onboard sequencer capable of programming up to 32 steps of notes and rests, the MS-1 MK II-RD allows for the creation, storage, and recall of up to 64 patterns across 8 banks. This feature supports both Keyboard mode for pattern creation and storage, and Step mode for interactive composition.
Designed for live performance, the MS-1 MK II-RD includes a guitar strap and handgrip with a pitch bend wheel and pitch modulation trigger, enabling musicians to take center stage. The noise generator serves as a modulation source, creating distortion-like effects, while the glide (portamento) feature ensures smooth transitions between notes. The Bender is assignable to the VCO, VCF, and pitch mod wheel, offering further modulation possibilities.
With 57 knobs, faders, and switches, the MS-1 MK II-RD's intuitive layout invites musicians to immerse themselves in music creation. Connectivity options include MIDI I/O and Thru over USB/MIDI DIN, Velocity Out, CV, Gate, External Clock In, VCF CV In, Hold, External Audio, Phones, and main Output, ensuring seamless integration into any setup.
The Behringer MS-1 MK II-RD synthesizer is a powerful tool for unleashing your imagination, delivering classic analog sound with modern versatility. Whether you're crafting super-fat bass lines, soaring leads, or otherworldly effects, this synthesizer is your gateway to limitless sonic exploration.
