I've found this tripod to be a good replacement for full size tripods during day hikes or overnight backpacking trips when I need to cut down on bag weight. All the components feel sturdy and good quality, and I've been able to take time lapse photos without any noticeable shake. For reference, I'm using a D5200 and 35 mm kit prime lens.

I have a larger Mefoto Roadtrip and it's wonderful. I love the look, feel, stability, and portability of it, but it stays at home when I'm just out and about. I bought a much much smaller Manfrotto Pixi that I adore for being able to jam in my pocket and just have whenever, but it also has it's limitations (weight limit, no adjustments). Right in the middle of those two is this Mefoto Daytrip. I have only one complaint about the Mefoto Daytrip, and it's really not about the tripod itself; it's about the included plate. It's just not any good! Every time I go to re-position my camera against the friction of the ball head, the plate comes lose. It's also wide enough that it restricts the movement of my a7's tilting LCD to "up only". It's junk and it needs to be replaced. That said, once you have your own option for a plate, or in my case an L-bracket (always on, love the feel), it's a gem of a take-anywhere tripod. It lives inside my Lowepro Urban Reporter 250, and it's there whenever I need it. It's not as tall as a full sized tripod, and it doesn't convert to a monopod like the Roadtrip, but it's absolutely perfect for the small size and weight. When I inadvertently toss it off the side of a cliff or under a moving bus, I'm just going to buy another.

Got a set on a whim..well, kinda,, I liked the looks and the color choices was a fun little 'extra'. fast forward about a year later, and I was finding I was really needing more of these. ( Got a few cameras that all like to work at the same time) THese things are compact, sturdy, they WORK! Any maintenance is a hex wench & 5seconds away. I've only needed to do it once and I think that was a fluke. :-) Ok,, nitty gritty They are compact, easy to carry most anywhere,, if you have cargo pocket pants, you can slip a leg into a pocket and it will ride along that way. Mine still fold up nice and compact, even with Kessler Crane quick release plates on all of them. NOTES!! THese are not your tall tripods,, if all your shots involve you standing, and you hate getting low,,go elsewhere. Just pick the tool for the job! I like them because I never think of reasons I should leave it at home, If I need it taller I look around, and if no handy surfaces available, then I bitch about leaving the big brother at home, haha. They work great for video or stills. Highly suggested

Solid with good controls on height level. Bubble level is kinda weird but everything else I love about this tripod.
