great starter tripod that lasts

conversion to monopod was difficult to figure out at first, but it works well in both formats. recommend using sandbags as the tripod is sometimes not heavy enough on its own to resist when panning from side to side

Overall a great portable video tripod

I researched many options for a portable lightweight tripod I could use for video and stills. I have a heavier fluid head tripod, but wanted something more portable for hiking into more remote areas. My final selections came down to The Manfrotto Be Free Live and the Bento Aero 2 and 4. I ended up choosing the Aero 4 because the reviews on the head were better. I had concerns because some reviewers mentioned it is not a true fluid which I can't confirm, but in using it find both the pan and tilt operation very smooth, and more than acceptable for my purposes. I don't have heavy cameras, I'm using it for my Sony PXW-X70 camcorder and my Panasonic FZ1000. It works great for both of them. The tripod is very sturdy, well made and very portable. If you want to do backpacking with it when you're carrying an already heavy pack it is probably a little too heavy for most and in that case I'd recommend trying the Manfrotto, or Aero2. I'd definitely recommend this tripod for anyone looking for a portable tripod and needs a good head for shooting video as well as stills. You won't be disappointed!

Adjustable Leg Angles
