Good Fit

I ordered the aluminum short column for my series 2 carbon fiber tripod.  Fits perfectly.  It weighs 6.3 oz with the rubber ring and hook on the bottom.  The standard length Carbon column weighs 7.4 oz.

Short center column

I wish manufacturers would sell tripods with short center columns.  The long center columns included with the tripod might make the specs look a little better, because it makes the tripod appear taller.  Unfortunately, extending the center column makes the camera less stable.  More importantly for me,  the long center column prevents getting the camera close to the ground.  This short center column has transformed my Benro tripod from something I occasionally carry, to something I nearly always carry.  This is one of those items that has absolutely improved my photos.
