The little box that could. I had my doubts about it, but reading other reviews convinced me to take a chance on it, so maybe this review will someday help someone else do the same. I had been interested in getting a little DI box like this for some time now, but I just can't afford to invest in one of the fancier ones yet, like original SansAmp Tech 21 that this is based on. It basically IS that one, its just built with cheaper components... So what if its in a plastic housing... I knew I wasn't going to be using it all day everyday, and I really just wanted to see, and hear... how it would effect my tone. So this little Behringer that could, was the perfect one to try... and I cant believe its only $35, with all the great tones that it gives me. It almost makes me feel as though my little Ampeg practice amp, just turning into a classic SVT Tube amp! It makes me WANT to pick up my bass, and play it more... even though alas, I'm not a full time musician and I don't always have the time to play. There is only one thing about this that I did not like. Behringer's little instruction sheet that came with it. In they have some pictures of recommended "sample settings" to try. However, the pictures they show you are not pictures, of this product. Instead, they're sample settings shown from their GDI21 product, which is the Guitar version of this Bass (BDI21) pedal, and its showing you controls and switches that this BDI21 does not have! You want this tone? Well just flick this little switch here that your pedal doesn't have! Wow, Behringer... talk about going cheap there. Just throw in the sample instructions, for the wrong pedal... oh well.. I just went and goggled the sample settings from the original Sansamp, that this one is based on.. that shows me knob settings, that this pedal has, and can actually do.. like the settings for a classic SVT Tube sound, instead of a Marshall guitar shredder stack. ...that, and maybe someone at Behringer will read this and actually take a look at what they included with this little product of theirs, and decide to fix it. That said, don't let that one little negative effect your choice! So what, if the sample settings are for the wrong product! Buy this pedal, and be yourself and experiment with it, and create your own awesome tone!
