While the Behringer Super-X Pro CX3400 Stereo 2-Way/3-Way/Mono 4-Way Crossover may appear complex, its high-precision design and advanced features make it an essential tool for any audio professional. This crossover is engineered with state-of-the-art circuitry and superior grade components, including ultra low-noise operational amplifiers (op amps) and balanced inputs and outputs, ensuring a clean, clear sound.
One of the standout features of the CX3400 is its switchable pre-EQ circuit, specifically designed to enhance the performance of systems equipped with constant directivity horns. This, coupled with a user-adjustable multi-band limiter, provides unparalleled protection for individual loudspeaker system components, extending their lifespan and maintaining their sound quality.
The CX3400 crossover is not just about protection, it's also about precision. Its accurate signal processing helps to create a sound system that is powerful, balanced, and efficient. Expect punchy and tight bass, rich and crisp vocals, and well-defined instruments.
The CX3400 offers two modes of operation: 3-way stereo and 4-way mono. In the 3-way stereo mode, it separates the sound into left and right lows (woofers), mids, and highs (tweeters). In the 4-way mono mode, it divides the sound into lows, low-mids, high-mids, and highs. Both modes offer the option of normal (left and right) or summed-mono low-frequency output.
This crossover also features adjustable time delays of up to two milliseconds, ensuring that the sound from various transducers reaches the listener in-phase and simultaneously. This is achieved through the use of 1% metal film resistors and other tight-tolerance components, which provide surgically precise frequency selection with incredibly low thermal noise.
The CX3400's sleek LED matrix provides a clear visual representation of the selected operation mode and active controls. For connectivity, it accepts both balanced and unbalanced XLR connections. The inputs are equipped with 25 Hz Low Cut filters for low-frequency driver protection, and mute and phase invert switches are provided for each frequency range, simplifying the troubleshooting process for any loudspeaker system.
