This is a big and bulky setup, which is what I was looking for. Built like a tank and can manage my heavy camera. I wouldn?t take it on a long hike or on a plane, go carbon fiber for that. For studio or local work, it?s a beast.

Solid setup that I bought for spotting scope use. The combination definitely isn't light, but its solid as a rock and very easy to adjust.

The manfrotto MT055XPRO3 tripod is very sturdy and well built as is the manfrotto MVH502AH pro video head. The video head has very nice controls for smooth shots. I would definitely recommend both products to anyone looking for a cheap video tripod set up.

The Manfrotto 055XP3 is the best tripod we have and i have worked with at least 10 models. We love the Ball Grip head, especially for forensics and crime scene photography.

Based on online reviews I purchased this tripod and head and after testing for the smoothness of pan and tilt and the adjustment of the liquid effect of the head and after adjusting to the settings that I felt was right for me, I was able to pan and tilt following a moving object quit easily while keeping the object at the center of the camera view. Another test of the head that I believe that beginners and pro would agree with is, how stable would it be on a zoomed in object, meaning, after zooming in, letting go of the handle to see if it retain it position or how much would it retract. The test I used was a shot of the moon's edge zoomed in at over 300 and I was quite pleased to see that at that closeness it retracted extremely little and the edge was still in view. As for the tripod stand it is extremely stable, easy to setup and close. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase.

I have tested many cheap fluid heads trying to avoid this head and eventually I found that I spent the total amount of this head and a tripod on cheap heads! This is my fourth tripod and second Manfrotto. The tripod itself is sturdy with the touch of Italian quirkiness, but once you understand it, it works well. The head is the main reason I purchased it for videography using primarily a Canon G30 camcorder. The head is smooth and again it takes time to learn how to set the various controls. I've used it already to do a smooth pan from directly above to horizontal. The one drawback of this combination is how the two attach. If you have the head set to not move horizontally, it is possible to start unscrewing the head from the tripod. I wish there was a lock and thats the reason for four instead of five stars.

I mainly use my cameras for photos only but as I am diving more into video clips (mainly product videos), I realized that my ($) tripod isn't going to cut it for smooth panning shots. I heard great reviews on the two separate pieces of this package (video head and tripod) and happened to come across this package deal which is quite a bit cheaper than buying both separately! The head is fantastic and provides ton of adjustments for loose to tight movements and I keep mine right in the middle. You can pan easily and will wonder why you used anything else once you get this. Plus, if you register it with Manfrotto you get a ridiculously long warranty (8 year extension for the tripod, 2 year extension for the video head). Highly recommend to anyone needing smooth panning shots!

Head Doesn't lock tight enough. It allows the camera to move on its own. The tripod it self is great but it might be best to look elsewhere for a good tripod head.
