Apparently I didn't know what a really great tri-pod was until I bought this. I have been using cheap, flimsy tripods for years. There is so much to say about this. Firstly, it is very heavy. I believe that is exactly what you need for a stable image in all conditions. It's rock solid. The build quality is excellent. It feels like a fine piece of machinery. I am 6'3" and I can use it without even raising the center tube and not have to bend over. Talk about versatility. The legs have four defined positions that let you lower this tri-pod almost completely to the floor. And the center tube converts into a boom allowing infinite combinations of position. It will support even my heaviest lens which is a monstrous Sigma 150-500 telephoto. This tripot does it all. And it was on sale for 33% off. Can not be beat!

Have been looking for a tripod with all the "extra" features that permit almost unlimited angles and height adjustments. The Manfrotto 055XPROB fit the criteria. Stayed with the 3-way pan/tilt head as that is what I am use to. This combo has fit-the-bill for anything I've called on it to do...landscape, portraits, wildlife, etc. Only minor complaint is the the aluminum tripod with head is a bit heavy but, then again, more stable than many others I've used. Too, weight can be relative to the situation so what's heavy to one individual is acceptable to others. Would buy again if I needed to.

I've done a lot of research on tripods and heads before purchasing this combination. For the price, I believe this Manfrotto set is top quality. It's a very sturdy tripod and allows for multiple angle combinations. It allows for maximum height of 76" and accommodates weight up to 12 lbs. I must say, once again, I've been very satisfied with my purchsase from Adorama!!

This tripod and head combination are an excellent match. Sturdy construction and easy to set up. The head allows for multiple adjustments and camera angles in addition to the center post adjustments of the tripod. I've done a lot of research on tripods and head combinations before purchasing this outfit. For my use, this setup has been GREAT! Everything about this unit is solid and smooth operating. Another GREAT product offered by Adorama! (AND Fast delivery)

This is my first tripod, but I researched before buying it. I wanted to invest in a tripod/head combo that would last a long time and hold my equipment as I upgraded in the future. This will hold a lot of weight and is very stable. The head is great for panning video. One last thing to talk about is the amount of angles that can be achieved with this combo. It's limitless.

I purchased a cheap tripod when I purchased my 50D in 2008 but rarely used it after trying more robust tripods. I wanted to purchase a tripod that was commiserate with my taste. I purchased a 5D2 and 1D3 so I decided to get a decent tripod. After perusing many forums and online dealers, I decided on this tripod/head combination. It's not cheap nor expensive but once it arrived I was blown away at the quality. The flexibility in panning, tilting and swiveling and the smoothness of its operation is phenomenal. It isn't overly light but it is far from heavy. I used my 5D2 to create a video of my wife and dog and it was beautiful because of the easy maneuverability of this tripod combination. I am smitten and extremely happy. I am glad I took a while in deciding which tripod to purchase.

The first tripod I bought was extremely small & lightweight. Good for traveling, but not so good to support a big, heavy DSLR + lens combo. I bought this tripod setup and have been very happy with it. Only complaints: It's pretty heavy. Also, my quick-release latch seems to require way too much strength to open.

Head 808RC4
The 808RC4 streamlines our range of 3-way heads by incorporating new elements while maintaining all the features you loved. There are two balance springs in the vertical tilt (forward/backward) and horizontal tilt (left/right) movements. These springs enable you to more comfortably handle heavier camera loads (such as very long lenses) with minimal effort.
Both springs can be turned off in case normal head operation is required. The head is comprised of aluminium and designed in a manner to support up to 8kg yet lightweight and small enough to pack in any camera kit. The standard quick release system is used to accommodate larger camera platforms which incorporates dual axis bubble levels to achieve level shots.
Tripod 055XPROB
The 055XPROB makes the famous Manfrotto-patented horizontal centre column feature even easier to use. By extending the column to its highest vertical position, it can be swung round to horizontal without removing the head or disassembling the column itself, so switching between framing and positioning setups is more convenient than ever. The ergonomics of the leg angle release mechanism and the quick action leg locks themselves have also been greatly improved
