These stands take a little to get used to folding horizontally instead of in a triangle shape. But they are super compact and get the job done while fitting in my pelican 1650.

Manfrotto products are great and always reliable. Love how compact this stand is yet it still gives enough support to hold my monolight.Highly recommend to any photographer who travels to clients. Lightweight but very stable.

I love having this little stand to hold a strobe and a strip softbox for fill underneath, that's short enough for just about every adult human being. And it matches it's big brother, the 1005BAC. It's a great little stand.

Well made. Clever design. Nice stand. Doesn't go as high as I wanted. I found it a bit shaky for moonlights.

I am excited to add this to my gear. It is built extremely well. The A/C was worth the extra few bucks as well.

I knew this was a lightweight stand going in. I have a nice Manfrotto tripod so I thought I'd give their stands a try. This stand just isn't man enough to stand up to an arm mounted on top holding a 42" reflector. Just keep this in mind if your thinking of using it in the field because of it's compact size.

The material is not technically aluminum. It's called Adapto developed by Manfrotto. Superb material. Very light but durable and stable.

I like this stand. It works great. I only regret that I did not plan for the amount of abuse and stress I would put on it. I have multiple of these because they are stack-able(best feature ever) makes for great storage. They are small and lightweight but that is a prop and con. I put a manfrotto umbrella adapter on it and a 322rc2 plate. Then a flex tt5 and 430exII speedlite. (I do the same for all my stands) and this works great. The problem is when I add my 42 inch umbrellas. The thing is a little less stable and I corrected this by using sandbags and so forth but it is more cumbersome to drag those along for shoots on location. Don't get me wrong they will stay up without the sandbags but in a crowded room with lots of people moving about, one bump would most certainly send it over. I'd never use it outdoor with an umbrella without someone holding it. you could just use speedlite alone or maybe a small speedlite softbox (but i've never done this) It's also not entirely the stands fault but the manfrotto umbrella adapter too. You really have to crank it in place to make the whole set up stay. you could bring the umbrella closer to the center of gravity of the lightstand but if you want to defused light you really have to move it out as far as possible. This makes for a really unbalanced rig. I also find that the tightening screw on the legs at the bottom doesn't hold very well. The other ones that adjust the pole up and down are amazing. Especially that air cushion feature. Even with the flaws I mentioned above I would buy this product again. It's versatility and weight outweigh the negatives. My setup with the umbrella adapter and 322rc2 plates fit in the manfrotto LBag90 with room to spare.

I love this little stand its great for on location shoots.the only thing is you will need something like sand bags. What I use is three ropes hook on the pole with tent steaks and it holds up nice even in the San Francisco winds.

This lightstand is well built and durable. It's compact and relatively light to carry around. It took me a while to get use to the stack mechanic though because it is designed to store with other lightstands of the same model in stack fashion.

Man Stand

Best light stand hands down. Lays flat, durable, extended warranty and stackable! Oh and is air cushioned. No brainer!
For photographers and videographers seeking a reliable, compact, and lightweight solution for their lighting needs, the Manfrotto 1051BAC 83" Air Cushioned Aluminum Mini Compact Stand is an exceptional choice. This stand, crafted from durable aluminum, is designed to withstand the rigors of both studio and on-location shoots.
One of the standout features of this stand is its patented Quick Stack System (QSS), which allows multiple stands to be connected together. This innovative design not only saves valuable studio space but also makes transportation more manageable, particularly when shooting outdoors.
The stand boasts four sections and three risers, providing ample height and stability for a variety of lighting setups. Its air-cushioned feature ensures a smooth and safe operation, preventing sudden drops and potential damage to your equipment.
Despite its robust construction, the Manfrotto 1051BAC stand remains lightweight and easy to handle. Its compact size makes it an ideal choice for professionals who need to move quickly and efficiently between shoots.
The stand is also compatible with a range of accessories, such as the Manfrotto umbrella adapter and 322rc2 plate, allowing for a versatile range of lighting configurations. However, when using larger accessories like a 42-inch umbrella, additional stability measures such as sandbags may be required.
In summary, the Manfrotto 1051BAC 83" Air Cushioned Aluminum Mini Compact Stand offers a perfect blend of durability, portability, and versatility, making it an invaluable tool for any photographer or videographer's gear kit.
