A great beginner tripod

I am just starting out with photography, and this tripod is excellent for me for the following reasons: - It isn't expensive (compared with ultra light-weight tripods) - It extends very high and very low (great for all types of compositions) - It is very sturdy (has plenty of room to grow with you e.g. new lenses!) - I don't take it for extended hikes very often, so the weight isn't a problem.

More than you bargain for!

A real value which is easy to carry, quickly sets up, and is rock solid. Glad that I made this choice.

Wonderful Simplicity

A durable and simple tripod. If you don't need spiked feet (They are available as ad ons) or a center column that goes horizontal (How often will you use that?)then the simplicity of this tripod makes it extremely attractive as well as more durable than the fancier versions.

Perfect for the weekend photographer

Combined mine witha Vanguard GH-100 pistol grip ballhead (which I also recommend)for my leisure time hobby/passion. Folds small enough to carry on the Think Tank Airport Antidote backpack. Super easy to unfold the legs, really a secure base to shoot from. Supports a Nikon D300 with a battery grip & any lense I have to put on it. Found it used and I'm glad I have it.

Gets the Job Done

Best small lightweight tripod I have used. I use it for medium format scenery shots with a mamiya 645, and am quite pleased with the results. I'd give it a five, but I'm not a five kind of guy.

I have two of these!

After spending a lot of time looking for tripods, I bought this one. The spec is 17 pound capacity so calculating real capacity using the 1/3 of manufacturer's listing rule of thumb, this tripod easily holds my 5 pound Nikon D7000 with my heaviest lens--70 to 200 f2.8. I love this tripod so much that I bought the carbon fibor version for every day while I keep this less expensive one in my second home. Stop looking. Buy this tripod or its carbon fibor 1 1/2 pound lighter brother!

happy I bought this

I've owned this for 6 months now and have carried it with me hiking in Zion NP and other southwest parks(a little heavier than I'd like, but tolerable). I've had countless shots where I've needed to set up quickly and shoot, and this is very easy to get stable and level. I'm very pleased with it, though it does get a little unstable extended to full height in wind. I added the 804RC2 head and I'm very happy with the combination

Very stable

Solid construction, very stable, good height range, easy to change legs angle and height. It's kinda heavy, but otherwise it wouldn't be so stable.

Good Set of Legs

I purchased these legs for my daughter to use with her Nikon D40. We topped it off with a Manfrotto 391RC2 Pan & Tilt Head. The result is a stable and simple platform that accomplishes everything she needs done. The unit collapses easily, sets up quickly, and is light enough for her to carry.

Solid, well constructed tripod.

Works as described, although heavier cameras will have some shake when the center shaft is fully extended. If you need over 5 feet consistently in height, I would get the 055 instead.

Very Solid

A little heavier than I wanted, but it's as sturdy as a rock. Very happy with my purchase.

Improved over the 3001 Tripod

I have yet to utilize the many ways this tripod can be used, I.E., macro, night shots, telephoto, etc. For the photo gear used, can't be beat. I also like the leg warmers already on this tripod, saved myself money not having to buy them as an accessory. Use the 3265 head for ease of composition, very quick. Getting that fleeting image captured is very important to me and knowing that I don't have to spend alot of time for equipment setup is great. Purchased a bag and tripod feet 3255, also from Bogen.

Very Impressed

Compared to my previous tripods, this one is certainly the best investment. I was particularly impressed when I used it under windy conditions in the Grand Canyon. I didn't think much of it initially, but when I saw other photographers next to me weighing down their tripod or having trouble keeping theirs still - I was quite happy that I had made this purchase :) Even though it is heavier that what I was used to, it is certainly worth it!!

Great Tripod for hiking

This is a great tripod for photographing outdoors. I use this tripod with a Bogen-Manfrotto Compact 486RC-2 head, and it provides great support for my camera and lenses. I don't have many heavy lenses, but this works well with my Canon XTi and 24-105mm F/4 L canon lens for photographing waterfalls. I wish it came with a little carrying bag, but it is still a great tripod for the money.

Built on the same ergonomically improved design as the 190XPROB but without the horizontal center column feature, the 190XB is lighter in weight and slightly more compact.
