I needed a second Manfrotto 200PL - Pro Aluminum Plate to put on my telephoto lens. While attaching and removing the plate is simple, the extra steps could mean losing a photo opportunity. The plate looks and works just like the one that came with the tripod.

I bought this plate to allow me to use my Canon M50 with both my Manfrotto clamping system and the newly purchased Joby GorillaPod 5K Tripod Kit. The Manfrotto 200PL-Pro plate is really cool. it clams very well to the bottom of my camera and fits perfectly into both systems. In fact, it requires much less tensioning via the mounting screw than the Joby GorillaPod plate does - and hold onto the bottom of the camera much better than the Joby plate.

These plates seem to be strong enough to hold camera and big lens. (There is a warning to not transport the camera attached to the tripod). The locking mechinisim seems to very secure.

This extra mounting plate was a must with my Manfrotto carbon fiber tripod. Their stuff is proprietary and regular Arca-Swiss plates don’t work with Manfrotto. Even though it’s overpriced, it is SOLID and worth the extra $$$$.

One time I went to mount my camera on the tripod and realized the tripod plate was not attached to the camera. Trip was a total waste of time and money. Never again, because I now keep the plates in my truck, car, on the tripod, in my camera room, camera accessory bag, etc. This plate is the typical Manfrotto high quality and does the job as intended.

I just converted my Manfrotto 190L to a Fluid Video Head with a leveling center column,yes heavy, but now have both heads and center columns. The Fluid head is used for wildlife (birds) and night Milky Way Panorama and the other have not gone back to yet BUT still have. I also bought the Manfrotto Befree Fluid head for travel and is super light. With both types I need an adapter for both. The Manfrotto gold adapter does not work on the A7S so two tripods a waste (sorta). The fluid head uses Arca-Swiss adapter on top of the head sliding adapter. I recommend a Fluid Video Head with leveling center column for Photography as well as video, you will be pleased!!!

I had put aside the RC2 clamp and plate in favor of arca-type a while back, but this new Manfrotto plate restores usefulness to the old clamps for me, plus the new plate can be used on other arca-type clamps.

I ordered the Manfrotto 200PL Aluminum Plate and ball head for my Manfrotto tripod. I purchased these items online and had not had a chance to actually see them in person.
