Questions & Answers

Shopper : Will this only mount to smooth surfaces? I was wondering about concrete walls in a HS gym that are painted. Considering using them to mount speedlights exactly where I want them.KENDRICK B : You can get a similar product that has twice the mounting surface at Harbor Freight Tools for $7.00. I have successfully used them in a HS gym for speedlights and battery backs. You will want to carry some windex to clean the painted concrete surface well and then complete the suction. Use superclamps on the double and your will be good to go. WWW.KAPPHOTOS.COMWILLIAM B : I have three of these and have mounted them to for surfaces on metal (cars) glass and stone countertops. Unless the perfectly surface smooth, it will not hold suction. SCOTT S : I don't know for certain. Concrete usually has a uneven surface. You might not be able to get a vacuum seal. You would have to test it on the surface to be certainLEWIS D : Only to super smooth surfaces like glass or automotive paint.
Shopper : I brought a Manfrotto 241 Suction Grip with 5/8 Swivel Socket today, I noticed it only take rounded stud, I was also wondering if 16mm stud works and what 5/8" stud do you recommend for camera?ANDREW R : A 16mm stud may be too large for this item (5/8" is a US standard). The stud you choose is entirely dependent on the intended use for this unit.
