Fits great on my pistol grip and now that I have purchased all Manfrotto items this is compatible with all my tripods/ cameras as well as flash brackets!

It didn't come with the two screws that I was expecting. The allen wrench in the bag proved most pointless without the screws to use it with. One trip to the hardware store later to pick up two screws...

When I ordered my Manfrotto 190XPROB tripod, I also purchased the basic 484RC2 Ball Head and the 804RC2 Pan & Tilt Head. They were both sturdy and easy to use, but I found that I spent too much time fiddling with them to get the angles right. The Manfrotto 322RC2 Grip Action Ball Head seemed to be the best alternative, and after trying one out at the local camera shop, I bought one. The problem was, how could I set the camera vertical for 'portrait' orientation photos? The answer was simple: the Manfrotto 322RA Quick Release Assembly. It screws onto the accessory threads in the end of the 322RC2, and allows you to quickly disconnect the camera and reconnect it to the other plate. I found that I liked the 322RC2 grip ball head even better in the vertical position better, and I have used it that way for the past several years. It adds several inches to the overall height of the tripod. While I could have removed and replaced the 322RA QR assembly that came on the head, it is much easier to have the accessory one available all the time. My only (minor) regrets are that the assembly adds more weight to the tripod, and the cost is a little steep. It's made by Manfrotto, though; that means it is SOLID and it does not come CHEAP. I just wish there was something similar for my 327RC2 Grip Release Ball Head. It is not always easy to heel the camera over for Portrait work.

I had the Manfrotto Grip Action Ball Head for a couple of years and finally bought the second QR assembly. Great design to allow two QR positions for it; makes its use very flexible. No lost time (or shots) when switching from one position to the other.

I added the 322RC2 to use it like my old 3265 pistol grip in additon to the more stable RC322

The addition of the Action Ball Grip transformed the grip from a vertical to a horizontal grip which gives you two choices on you mount, which I think should have been offered as a standard option. Both vertical and horizontal operation has their place and use and with the addition of the extra plate I've increased the grip's function.
