In general this is a very well conceived design. For me, it held two Canon Speedlite 270EX II slaves for macro photography and the results were quite good (once I managed to get the flashes into the shoes, which were *very* tight. Unfortunately, in order to keep the arms from moving, I had to tighten the thumbscrews quite hard, or the flashes moved when I was aiming downward. The necessary tension was too much for the construction and the thing fell apart -- first, one of the washers broke in half, then the aluminum snapped. So, stronger construction and/or a better method for locking the arms is needed. I won't be buying another, as this one didn't even last a year with fairly moderate use. Any suggestions for an alternative are welcome.

Problem: limited space resulted in subject shadows cast on backdrop...using Nikon SX-1 ring to mount SB-200 speedlights. Not enough angle to cast shadows outside FoV. Solution: separate the SB-200's and angle them into the subject, resulting in subject shadows outside FoV. The 330b lets the SB-200's be about 18" apart.
