This adapter is designed to convert a photographer's tripod for use with surveying/construction equipment. It has 3/8-16 female threads on the bottom to mate with the photographer's tripod stud, and a 5/8-11 male stud on top to mate with surveying/construction equipment. Essentially it does the opposite of what you're wanting it to do..
