I purchased this to level my Manfrotto N8 Nitrotech Video head on my Grand Induro 304L tripod without having to add the optional 75mm bowl and adapter allowing me to get the tripod down to ground level without the tightening column creating an obstacle to clearance/ Although not as pretty as the Really Right Stuff leveling bases, it's highly functional and extremely well built. The lever makes "no creep". tightening a joy. Not to mention this product is a fraction of the price/

I spent years going about shooting by adjusting level through leg length adjustments thinking it will be redundant to have this extra level until I tried it from gadgets loan to me by my reporter friend. This handy gadget is rock solid and I can no longer live without it! Bob Tsui Ph. D.

This is good for light to medium weight cameras/dslrs. It is quick and easy to use. The head stays level. Perfect for my Bogen 3011.

If you use a tripod that does not have a ball head leveling system this is a must. No more jockeying with tripod leg lengths to make the camera level.

I've used this product for levelling a video head, and while it does that, the operation of the leveller is very notchy. It's quite fiddly to get the head levelled and adjustments are not as smooth as they should be. The value is good however compared to other types, and for occasional use it's fine.

I can set it leveled in about 5 seconds. Much better than messing with the tripod legs to get a leveled picture. Great for video, no more tilting of your picture as you pan left an right.

The Compact Leveling Head is a great addition to the average photographer who doesn't need exact levelling and yet needs a quick method of obtaining near-perfect level without adding bulk to her or his rig. This head adds a little weight and a little extra length to the tripod. However, for those needing exact levelling such as those creating 360 degree images, this product has an interesting quirk where tightening the adjustment lever changes the level. It takes practice, and a bit of luck, to get exact level which is why this loses a star.

My budget would not support the purchase of the larger Bogen leveling head, but for my particular application, the mounting of a 3-axis panorama head, this smaller head is both simpler and lighter to deal with and the price was a lot more palatable. Maybe it does not offer the absolute precision of adjusting three separate leveling screws like the larger head, but I got into photography to take pictures, not fiddle with equipment all day.
