Good accessory for bracing super telephoto lenses. Allows a wider range of slower shutter speeds and aids in the wind. Takes a bit longer to set up your shot but certainly increases your chances of getting the shot without camera induced blur. An improvement would be to have two legs to the brace instead of one, but I suspect set-up time would be significantly increased.

This tripod add on works very well if you have physically long lenses. I use it with my 600mm+ Nikon and Leica-R glass and it adds rigidity to the system to reduce shutter and mirror induced vibrations in these long lens tubes. I use it with Gitzo 5540LS CF legs and gimbal head. There are several joints and the tube extension, so it seems a bit loose in the beginning, but once everything is tight, it is solid. The negative is that once you lock this down, you are not going to easily swing the lens in any direction. This set up is best used when shooting with static framing. If you are shooting a nest area from a hide for example it is perfect, you just have to wait for the action to come to you.

The Manfrotto 359 Long Lens Support is designed to provide extra support when using long telephoto lenses. By supporting the camera base with the legs of the tripod, this device provides better stabilization than having the lens collar mounted to the tripod alone.
