The Manfrotto 492lcd Ball Head is the best way to secure your valuable photo equipment, such as an Atomos Screen. The Manfrotto ball head is far superior to other devices I have tried. I am now confident in the security of my Atomos V.

Works well about 90% of the time, but a few times it's come loose and nearly fell off the cam with an ext monitor attached. And once it did fall off, sending a $1000 ext recorder to its watery death....

First time I have a complain about Manfrotto. No way it gets fixed in a position. Goes 360 degrees left and right and no way to make it get still.

This mount is very nice. It doesn't have any slippage, even when paired with my Atomos Inferno on my FS5. It offers a quick way to change angles. The locking mechanism is very smooth. I would recommend this for anyone who needs a quick mount for a monitor or external recorder.

The updated Manfrotto 492 LCD Micro Ball Head with Shoe Mount is more than up to the job of holding my Atomos Ninja V monitor attached to my Nikon Z6. Adjustments are easily made by loosening the single knob which frees up the ball and the base (the part attached to the shoe mount) to be rotated and repositioned into whatever position you want (this action does NOT loosen the shoe mount from the hot shoe on your camera - there is a separate thumbwheel for that). One comment about the silver thumbwheel that screws down onto the camera's hot shoe – it comes engraved with the model number of of the ball head and the edges of the engraving are rough which in turn can scratch your camera's hot shoe when the thumbwheel is tightened. My solution was to use a flat head screwdriver to unscrew the square hot shoe foot and flip the thumbwheel over so that the engraved side faces up (at the bottom of the black ball head part) and the smooth (non-engraved) side faces down and is the side that tightens down onto the rails of my camera's hot shoe. Once the thumbwheel is flipped simply screw the square hot shoe foot back on. So apart from this minor issue of the rough engraving, this LCD ball mount is outstanding.

This mount is heavier than ones I’ve used in the past but it’s also way stronger too. I wouldn’t hesitate outing a heavy setup on it.
