I purchased this to match the Manfrotto 625 on my tripods ball head. The locking device fits the 930=14 Plate which holds the camera in place. The Ball Head and 625 RCO Rapid is mounted on a Bogan Mono Pod.  
  I used an early version of this Adapter did not have the lock and would release easily. 
 The same Ball Head and Manfrotto 625 RCO Rapid Connect Adapter is on my Tripod and Bogan Mono Pod which makes switching easy.
 With the lock added the Camera is secure and stays put till you release it.

I've had the Manfrotto/Bogen quick release head on my large tripod and studio stand for years and appreciate the sturdy solid mounting it provides. By adding this adapter to my ball head it allows quick changes and that same solid mount.

I first purchased one of these back in 1999.  I still have it and it has always been reliable.  I've always used the manfrotto hexplates on all of my camera equipment.  Thus when I purchased a new ball head I wanted to continue to use the sample plates.

Purchasing this piece of equipment allows me to use my existing plates on non manfrotto ball heads.

The manfrotto gear I own has always been reliable and durable.  As a working professional, that is crucial.

Reliable piece of equipment!

I am the house photographer at a local performing arts theatre. I use rapid connect plates on my camera body and on a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens with the adapter mounted on a monopod. This allows for very stable mounting and quicker equipment changes. When hand holding the zoom, the plate makes a good grip
