Shopper : do I need a ball head with the Manfrotto 695cx and if so what is recommended?MIKE S : I got the BBH-100 and like it very much but any head with the right thread size will work.DAVID R : You could get by by screwing the camera directly to the mono, but I'd recommend a small ball head. Vanguard has some decent ball heads for under $150. This also depends on the camera size and weight as well as the longest lens you plan to use. I recommend more research on your partBRAD H : You will need a head of some sort. I can recommend 2, the Manfrotto 234RC Swivel Tilt Monopod Head and the Manfrotto 496RC2 Compact Ball Head 496 with RC2 Rapid Connect Plate. I have both.S W : Yes! I prefer pistol grip one, so I bought 322RC2 but you can also use regular ball head, 494RC2. My model numbers may be old.

Manfrotto monopod with RC2 rapid connect

I bought this monopod as a compliment to my MF tripod. They both use the RC2 rapid connect plate. As I already love my tripod, it only seems natural to love this monopod as well. After two outings it didn't dissapoint me. Only one problem is that it doesn't work too well with my C.C. camera vest's tripod adapter plate (quite dissapointing), although this is not an issue about the design of the monopod but rather the camera vest adaptor plate itself. Overall I'm gonna really enjoy this monopod.

The one to own

Excellent design and construction and does the job perfectly. If you are a photographer who just points and clicks, get a 680b or something like it. If you, like me, are interested in the organic and interactive nature of well designed kit and how that in itself can tweak your imagination, then this is an absolute must for your kit bag. I know it is rather expensive but when you have something this special, it cannot possibly come cheap. I cannot believe how lovely this looks and feels in the hand. A beautiful piece of equipment that not only does the job, but looks great while it does it. I don't know how I lived this long without it!
