Construction is sturdy. It is heavy ( as are all good pano heads) The short version is absolutly no fit for an 5DMK3 with a 16-35 IS USM II mounted. Plates fall short of a couple of millimeters to get to the exact nodal point. I homemade an extension plate but ended up buying a RRS full pano & Gimball head. The way you get your nodal point is not really accurate due to the way the camera is mounted using an L plate. Turning the lens down ( other pano brands)on the center of the tripod is to me a much precise method for precise work. A Nodal ninja is more than enough money if you do not plan on printing huge panos. If your goal is only making panos for screen showing, no need to spend extra. 300 bucks heads do fine.Really. I print over 40" panos : conclusion is this head is not suited for my purpose, but on the other hand it is to expensive for lesser purpose.

I will be using this product for panos and for regular shooting. There is nothing really wrong with the product as setup is easy, setting your spacing is great. Finding Nodal point was a little challangeing, but managed to get it. The only thing I would like to see included in this product would be a Bracket for tilting up & down at no extra cost. As the unit is a little pricy.

The Manfrotto Virtual Reality & Pan Pro Head is an advanced panoramic photography head that's built around the versatile 300N panoramic rotation unit, with sliding plates for nodal point positioning. An elbow bracket allows the camera to be mounted in either portrait or landscape orientation.
Precise geared movements of the two sliding plates are used to locate the camera over the panoramic axis of rotation, adding greater accuracy to nodal point positioning. The micro-positioning plates provide extremely precise fingertip adjustment using a gear-drive system. A release button disengages the gear drive for more rapid movement of the plates when it's needed. The plates are also longer than those of the 303 head, which helps to make this head suitable for use with larger traditional or digital SLR cameras equipped with standard or wide angle lenses, or for medium format cameras.
