JON S : what ball head is included in this package?TERRY B : It comes with a Manfrotto 496RC2 ball head.William G : It's a fairly simple ball head. I don't have a separate item number and anything else to compare. It works well and easily manages my Nikon 80-400 attached to my D7100. It would be nice if it had a handle for panning. But with mostly static sets taking photos at a feeder it seems just fine.JULIUS CAESAR S : It comes with 496RC2 ball head.WILLIAM C : The Ball Head is a Manfrotto496RC2, and I've been very happy with it and the tripod. I replaced forty year old aluminum Star D with this set-up, and it has proven MUCH easier to pack into the boonies and seems to be nearly as stable and rigid.EUGENE W : Sorry can't answer. Bought as a gift.
Shopper : Which Manfrotto bag fits this best with head attached? Thanks.GEORGE E : I have not bought a bag yet, I have the same question.LINDA N : Measure the length of the tripod with head and then find a bag to fit. The length will vary depending on which head you choose.RAY R : It comes with a travel bag

a solid piece of work

Just got the tripod/head, so I haven't yet put it through the paces. But first impressions are very good. It's well constructed, feels very solid yet not heavy. Should do a good job keeping those long shots steady. Adjustments work easily and solidly. The invertible central column is a nice feature (I didn't realize from the info online that it had this capability) if you want to get quite low to the ground. In normal position the closest to the ground the camera can be is about one cubit.

About Manfrotto 294 Carbon Fiber Tripod

The Manfrotto 294 Carbon Fiber Tripod is built to be transportable without compromising on stability. To achieve this, it uses a "next-generation" carbon tubing: an innovative composite tube derived from Manfrotto experience in professional supports with optimized fiber angles that provide consistent advantages over aluminum tubing in terms of rigidity, lightness and stability. 294 tripod legs use a 3-section construction with larger diameter carbon composite tubing than the sister 293 versions. This makes the 294 more rigid in order to maximize camera stability and minimize vibration, so it's ideal for zoom lenses that amplify any camera shake. Durable tension-adjustable aluminum leg locks can be tightened to suit your preference and to counteract any effects of wear and aging, keeping the tripod fully functional throughout its long life. Two-position leg angle settings make low-angle shooting possible, while a rapid center column adds flexibility and extends the min-max height range. The ball head (with quick release camera plate) allows you to position your camera freely and quickly, then block it solidly in place using the convenient single locking knob, ready to shoot in an instant. Because the ball head is so compact, it's also ideally suited for travelling photographers, making the whole kit easier to pack into luggage or your photography bag. The head is interchangeable and can be unscrewed in order to allow you to use the tripod with other specialized heads - the disk at the top of the center column is compatible with any Manfrotto head, ideal for photographers who think they may one day wish to optimize the tripod to their own specific preferences or to the demands of a new photographic style.
