BARBARA F : Is the Quick Release strong?BRUCE M : Yes, the release is fine. I use a full size dslr, no problem. The tripod is quite nice for hiking where size and weight are of the essence.KAREN H : That's negotiable. I've never had a problem, however, it's plastic construction wouldn't be something to trust absolutely.HERBERT C : It's plenty strong for my purposes. I use a Nikon D7100 with a medium telephoto, and certainly no issue there. If you were to use a super long telephoto, or a small telescope,or any combination more than perhaps 5 pounds, then maybe you'd want something a bit more beefy. But then, you'd probably want a stouter tripod as well. So yes, it's plenty strong for its intended use, IMO.PAUL R : I have had no problems with the quick release.I use it with a canon rebel xti with a tamron 18-270 lens thats rather heavy, no trouble!!TERRY D P : Oops sorry. Thinking about more recent purchase. This is ok for smaller cameras. Does not have secondary lock. Idsay best for point and shoot size.TERRY D P : Yes, it works well and has a locking buttonCESAR J : Yes it's really strong, it's great for easily removal for handheld and then if you want to put on the tripod. I haven't had problems with the quick release
Shopper : is this compatable with the Cannon t3i...?LUCAS L : Yes, it is. Thread size is the standard 1/4-20 (1/4" diameter, 20 threads per inch) that comes in most tripods. So you'll be able to mount your Canon t3i normally onto this tripod.PAUL R : I would expect it to be compatible-- I use mine with an XTI with Tamron 18-270mm lens (about 3 pounds total). Its been great as I travel and in fact is the second I have had .I ordered this one this year as a replacement for the one lost to Italian airport security in 2010 during an alert.Taken from my carry on as "A WEAPON". Hint :Pack it in your bag its a light and compact piece.Get a carry bag too its worth it PFRBRUCE M : Don't know the Cannon t3i or whatever. This tripod I use for hiking. It is quite compact and light, yet serves the purpose for my full size dslr. A mite frail, but weighted becomes stable and no problems.MOHANA E : YesHERBERT C : Yes. It is compatible with any camera that has a standard 1/4 x 20 screw mount, including the T3i
Shopper : will it hold canon t3 1100d? and should i get a manfrotto 3way pan head for it?JOSIE H : I have a nikon d7000-17-55 its ok for a travling tripo, but not real stable,I would not use everyday the one I use everyday is a 190 manfrottoBRUCE M : Hi- I use a Pentax k5 which is a full size dslr. The tripod is a bit light, but generally works great. If you need additional stability, hang your equipment bag or whatever you have with you from the hook at bottom of center column. I use a pan head such as you describe, which is perfect for my use. I would say this tripod is an excellent value if you are looking for something light ie backpacking or the like. I use a heavier one for general use.NICK M : It will definitely hold a Canon T3 without any problems. I don't believe that you can change the head on this tripod. The ball head that it comes with works really well.

Great compact tripod for the buck

The tripod is very stable, and folds up nicely. I would and will change out the ball head to accommodate a heavier camera lense combo. But for the price you can't go wrong. If your looking for a compact tripod to accommodate your full size DSLR I would not reccommend this tripod. The ball head is just to small.
