Well made

This monopod came in on time... It is well made and sturdy and works extremely well when a tripod just isn't practical... But this was expected from a Manfrotto product...

Somewhat lightweight. Can hold a lot of weight. Amazing value.

4.5 stars really. I'll start with the few negatives since you're comparing other items to what is a very performative monopod at a low price. The cons really depend on your needs and are easy to look over from the model specs and other reviews here. You may want a taller monopod, particularly if you're taller than 6' or frequently take portraits of tall people. A 1 or 2 ft-long tripod extender fixes this here. The quick locks seem slightly bulkier than they need to be, which makes fitting it into a small pocket or compact bag. Best to hang this from bottom of your bag. Carbon-fiber and other lighter options cost much more, but if you're looking for a lighter or heavier duty option than this (1.5 lbs) you should be selecting from a much higher price range anyway. The XPRO meanwhile collapses to a length more than short enough to travel with easily. This doesn't sacrifice its strength or stability at all; it takes heavy glass up to a limit probably higher than its listed rating (13.2 lbs). Other reviewers have mounted large Canon telephoto L-glass to their XPRO without a problem. (Most I've mounted on this is that Canon 24-70 f/2.8 II, a flash and a friend's video camera haphazardly fastened on top.) So far, I haven't noticed any wobbling or instability when extended. It's incredibly fast to setup and pack away in a few seconds since those large quick-locks are easy to reach for and unlock without looking. All of that with a long, well-designed grip gives you a quality walking stick that you can comfortably carry, sprint with, forcefully plant into the ground, and recklessly wave around you (attached with an adequate tripod head). It's also a $ monopod that's going for $. I don't know where else you can find a Manfrotto product for this price that isn't utterly disappointing like some of their cheaper equipment can be. Pair it with a quality tripod head and sports photographers, amateurs, athletes, and pros frequently out hiking or in the city will enjoy a cheap, solid monopod that's lots of fun to shoot with.

Solid Construction - Great Value

I bought this to replace a no-name monopod and I'm very happy with the product. I also bought the Manfrotto 234RC Swivel Tilt Monopod Head with the quick release plate which works well with my other Manfrotto tripod heads.

Can I have the 70D you're giving away? Poor college student, would much appreciate it.

Works like a charm. Nice and light, easy mounting camera.

Nice & Compact

A nice, compact monopod - light and convenient. Not for heavy use and does tend to sometime slip down if you're not careful. Perfect for casual use.

Good lightweight monopod

This is sturdy enough for most needs, ball head will make it easier to use. Had trouble getting the 1/4" screw off to secure my telephoto lens.

I like it!

I like it a lot! This is the first monopod I have ever purchased. It is sturdy and easy to used. I can connect directly my camera to it or I have an option to use it with any types of tripod heads.

Small but sturdy

This monopod will travel well, but also support big glass. Adding a Leitz tall head helps taller shooters.

Amazing Build Quality

This monopod has amazing build quality. I am 6 feet tall, and it is a bit short, but that is the only shortcoming (pun intended) of the product!

Manfrotto XPRO

Well designed sturdy , portable, easily fits outside the Back pack , can double as a walking stick. There is a little plastic clamp I don't know what is for( hope someone would tell me ) , own a couple of Monopods ,this is one of the best probably wil be luging around on my trips

Mono Pod

Nice heavy duty Mono Pod that works as I would expect. Makes a god walking stick while hiking. Remember; it is NOT a replacement for a tripod but I did not intend it to be one.

If you need a good monopod,……

If you need a good monopod, this will do it... although there are others (carbon fiber) that are lighter (& will reduce your risk of electrocution. & if you are taller than me you might want a longer one AND, if you are shorter than me you might get by nicely with a shorter monopod.

Too short for 5' 10" photographer

Wish I had read the other reviews which mentioned this. I'm going to have to make some sort of riser to get my camera up another three inches.

I like it just fine……

I bought this monopod because my Manfrotto 680B was heavier & bigger than I needed. The MMXPROA5US works every bit as well as the larger 680B for my use (Canon 5d Mark iv, with 150 - 600 mm Tamron zoom). It weighs less & it's easier to pack since it folds up around 5" shorter. With that said, it is NOT a replacement for a tripod.

Excellent

Excellent build quality especially for the price. The maximum extended height is ok for me (5'10"), though I imagine it may be a bit short for those over 6'. Feels sturdy and strong once locked into place. It is also quite compact. The durable rubber hand grip is also a nice touch.

Very nice but not tall enough for the average photographer

Very nice, but I did not notice the height was inadequate for someone 5'8".

What I needed

I am so happy with this monopod. I do a lot of sports shoots, and having to lug around the larger pods was a necessary pain. the XPRO is a perfect size to be able to clip to my belt or sling over my shoulder. In essence, I gain another arm! My 7D, along with a 70-300 4-5.6 L zoom holds up well, considering the total weight. I am finding I use tis more than my 681B monopod because of the size. Recommend this pod, I am finding it indispensable.

Well made

By Blair B.

This monopod came in on time... It is well made and sturdy and works extremely well when a tripod just isn't practical... But this was expected from a Manfrotto product...

Manfrotto introduces the new XPRO Monopod range that is a redesign of its high-end monopod offerings for advanced hobbyists and professional photographers. The new XPRO Monopods will be replacing the old 679B, 680B, 681B, 682B, 694CX and 695CX. This update brings the 055/190 performance and style on a one leg support.

Solid and Fast Set-Up
Higher locking power that doesn't compromise ergonomics: the QPL single-handed opening mechanism enables quicker, more comfortable set-up.

D-Shaped Fortified Aluminum Tube
The new D-shaped tubes used in the aluminum version ensure great stability hindering undesired rotation movements inside the locking mechanism.

New Rubber Legwarmer
The new rubber legwarmer, with the Manfrotto logo on it, provides an exceptional grip while giving an outstanding style to all the product range.

Screwed Feet
The feet of the new XPRO Monopods are screwed within the last tube. This solution allows the feet to be strongly fixed with the monopod avoiding any risk of losing it during the shooting.

New Sizes
The sizes of XPRO Monopods have been reviewed both on height performance and compactness and portability. The new monopods are +10% higher than the past range while the new 5 section versions have been particularly designed for traveling photographers.
