I bought this to go with the new tripod that I bought. It has worked exactly as I expected.  I bought three:  one for both of my camera bodies and my longer lens.  So far so good.  I did have a problem with one of them.  I couldn't use if for one of my cameras that I use a Blackrapid strap, which needs to screw into the tripod mount, which is where the release plate would go.  I had to purchase a different one for that but that's my problem, not the Manfrotto MSQ6PL.
